    Has anyone else had an issue with this MB and large file copies to an external HD?

    I have a WD 1TB external drive and try to copy my backup files to the external drive say 165GB at one time.

    If I copy the 2 files separately, it will be ok, but when I try to copy at the same time, it will either bluescreen or hang at a random point during the copy.

    I noticed that Win7 sometimes has trouble shutting down with the external drive. When using the computer during the day, it will sometimes forget that the external HD is connected and not show in "my computer".

    I never had this issue with the Rampage II board.

    As I said to another user couple of post ago: "I think your main problem was trying to run UnCore @ 4GHz with too little voltage. Yes, 1.4 is usually too low for 4GHz UnCore. My Xeon W3540 needs 1.4125V for it."
    When UCLK freq is set to Auto it will be lowest possible speed, in your case 4GHz, and it's hard to do without increasing VTT.
    Be ready to go all the way up to 1.6-1.65V if you want to find out max RAM speed while using Bloomfield.

    He certainly does know what he's talking about. Which is why I want to ask, what would you say is a safe VTT to run on D0 Bloomfield for 24/7 use? I know Intel specs say 1.35v. Does this mean that 1.35v VTT is the safest limit to run and still have the cpu last you at least the warranty period of three years? So how much are you decreasing the life of the cpu by going over?

    With a build that nice it's a must for you to take your time . You seem to be the type that do all the necessary research and homework before getting into anything. I'm exactly the same way so I like that .

    Glad you're also going with Indigo Xtreme. Seems to be the best thermal solution available so I picked it up from SVC a while back. I'll be installing it tomorrow so will let you know the results

    In my experience, it's more about watching your temps and just not using anything too extreme. Over 1.35 isn't a big deal, and you'll likely upgrade processors long before it would ever die on you.

    No, I meant 1.66V. Bloomfield processors are much more resistant than Westmere. Considering max VCore is 1.35 and I've run 1.7, of course I'm going to push VTT too. I've only pushed it this high on dice, though. For my 24/7 VTT is at 1.48, 1.42 as measured with my DMM.

    That thing requires a driver on the PC end to allow communication with the iPhone / iPAD. I am checking with my Asus contact on the release date of the PC driver. Will come back here when I hear back from Asus

    Hi guys, I'm looking for some help in getting my system stable.
    I can load Win7 with no probs 21x215 at 1.4Vcore and 1.35uncore, but I get BSOD after 5-10mins of Prime95 (Errors 0x00000101 and 0x00000124).
    I've upped the voltages up a bit, to 1.45Vcore and 1.4uncore, which I think is the highest safe for 24/7???, , temps are good 45idle and 66under load.

    Guys...vcore advice for 980x + R3E mobo. Now I have until now been working my way up the vcore ranges and currently have it set to 1.25v. I have set my limit at 1.35v after reading posts on the net - got 32nm 1.35v 24/7 is safe. How many people have got there vcore set to 1.4v for 24/7 use? The reason I ask this question is that the crazy OC setting to 4.0 or 4.2Ghz automatically sets the CPU to 1.4v - this would mean 1.4v is safe for long term use if the cooling is good. I am on 3.9Ghz at the moment and want to know what vcore I should limit myself at. To summarize, how many people are actually running there 980x 24/7 with 1.4v and how long have u been running it (months, weeks, etc). Really appreciate the responses)

    Intels voltage range 0.800V-1.375V Intel 980X

    I've had mine up to 4.5-4.7GHz 1.45v for a few bench tests other than that it runs at 3.6GHz 1.23V 24/7, I'm a gamer and really don't need anything higher yet but I might when I add another GTX 480 for tri sli and I have a stable 4.3GHz 1.32v if needed which I ran for a few days and figured out I didn't need it, Over-clocking the cards seems to make a bigger difference right now for gaming anyhow. 825/1650/1980
    For me unless I need a higher over-clock for a good purpose it's staying as low as possible.

    What do you all think of BIOS 1005 so far?? Are they more stable than the previous releases and dose everything still function as it should?

    I run my 980x @ 4.13GHZ and 1.3v vCore for over a month now. Runs cool and has never crashed on me.

    I was thinking of whether or not it would be too detrimental to run my 920 @ 4.2GHz 1.25v vCore and the GTs at 7-7-7-20-1N 2000MHz 1.35VTT for 24/7. I've concluded it's safe

    Too low vCore, IMO. VTT is probably more then enough for that UnCore speed, but it's not easy to run CPU @ 4.5GHz.

    Too low vCore, IMO. VTT is probably more then enough for that UnCore speed, but it's not easy to run CPU @ 4.5GHz.
    Thanks, will try increasing Vcore and lowering VTT

    A couple of questions,
    IOH Voltage, what is the safe operating limits for this? 24/7

    What is the consensus regarding these 4 options, that may be beneficial to overclocking?

    Thanks Now I wish I had watercooling at least...LN2 would be amazing. This chip is very strong unfortunately I'm only on air and limited to around 4.39GHz.

    That is still pretty good for air, decent IMC on that chip. Anything between 3845-3849 batch code should have killer potential. I have a 3849B041 i7 920 that can do 4750 on water max and runs 4200 24/7 at 1.25v prime stable.

    Yea the 384x B batches are infamous for being monster overclockers. Nice chip you have there btw What's different about my chip is that it's a A batch but has crazy overclocking potential.

    I need to edit my post actually, my 3949A372 runs 4.0GHz at 1.18v vCore and 4.2GHz at 1.25v vCore...very similar to your chip.

    I also had a question about i7s and the individual core temps. For me I see a 5-6 degree difference sometimes between the #0 and #3 core. Is this normal? I have seen screenshots of other people's i7s and some have this pattern while some do not. At first I thought it had something to do with a component on my motherboard that was heating up a certain section of the heatsink. But I think it may just be normal right?

    Yes I would consider that somewhat normal as die contact is certainly not perfect across the entire surface area, that is why some peeps here lap there sinks and the chip for better thermal contact. All chips are different as well based on where in the wafer they are cut from and binning, I have seen some strange temp readings though I do not get too excited unless it creates an issue regarding stability.
