So, what is Anvil's Storage Utilities?
First of all, it's a Storage benchmark for SSD's and HDD's where you can check and monitor your performance.
The Standard Storage Benchmark performs a series of tests, you can run the full test or just the read or the write test or you can run a single...
Well, we've started the quest to find out how long an SSD can last.
I'm using the Kingston SSDNow 40GB, a rebranded Intel X25-V and One_Hertz is using the new 320 Series 40GB SSD.
I'll be posting updates every day, well, thats my intention at least :)
This is the status of my SSD just...
Hi, I was wondering for people that have a fully saturated pci-e 2.0 x4 raid card, is there a difference in performance from the slot provided from the pch vs the ones provided by the cpu? Latency/bandwidth differences?
"Samsung says it began providing the XP941 to major notebook makers earlier this quarter, and that it is available in 512GB, 256GB, and 128GB capacities. The PCIe-based solution obliterates SSDs based on the ?old? SATA 6Gb/s interface, and Samsung promises sequential read performance of up to 1,400...
I totally overlooked this but if there's no performance hit or disadvantage to using mSATA on the motherboard it would make total sense to use this would it not? Other than the mSATA port being right below the waterblock I see no reason not to use it. Thoughts?
Looks like LSI has a smoker on deck...a SFF-8639 based SF-3000 (aka Griffin). 1.8GB/s reads and writes at 200,000 IOPs
More on upcoming SF...Adata are first at bat:
Can't wait for more...
Been a while since i posted anything on this part of the forum :p: , some people are reporting using Latest Intel Raid OROM 11.5 and Latest v188.8.131.524 RST Drivers are saying that they are getting TRIM support while using Raid0 on Intel ICHR10 , on X58 boards , Z68 ,Z77 and X79 ??? Can someone...
I have an Areca ARC-1882ix-4G-24, firmware 1.51, with 4x SSD's in RAID0 for the OS/boot disk.
The SSD's used to be 160GB Intel X25-M G2's and never gave me any problems. A few months ago I upgraded to 256GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD's, with a quarter of the space left as spare area.
My rig has a Samsung 830/128Gb SSD. When I first set it up I turned restore off , as recommended by some guide I read...
I actually image (ghost) my c: drive occasionally, but I turned restore back on while testing some new ram.
Even though I've been running Memtest before letting it boot to...
Asrock z87 extreme 4 with 4770k
A bit faster than z77 on bandwidth, but not as cool as Areca :p:
Maybe this have even lower latency than Areca 1880/1882 :D
We all know
Areca ARC-1264il-12/16 PCIe 2.0 to SATA lll RAID Adapter is Now Available for Sale
We all know how legendary the ARC-1231Ml and 1261Ml was in term of low latency compared to other brands
samsung 840 Pro 256G
Now you may want to know how to do this ....... No expensive hardware needed ....as you can see this drive is running on the Intel RST on the z77 chipset.
I'm not going to type out everything that needs to be done unless there is interest in it .....Thx
I was thinking about either buying 2xSamsung Pro SSD 840 256GB in Raid0 or directly buying the 512GB unit. I have read that the main advantage of raiding is to get extremely lower latencies, but this feature is precisely the one where SSDs shines the most.
Data loss is not...
As per title - I'm thinking of going hardware RAID - I have the controller & 8 WD Blacks.. thinking of grabbing two more & then make either a RAID 5 or 6 array using a 9260-8i. However I recall any WD hdd that isn't a RE has TLER on/off & this messes up badly in a hardware RAID config - or am I...
I would like to attach a dual/wide port capable SAS SSD to an LSI 9207 8i HBA in dual/wide port mode. Can anyone point me in the direction of the right cable to use?
I think I may need 2 x SFF 8087 to 1 x SFF 8482 (if such a thing exists) or is it 1 x SFF 8087 to 1 or 2 x SFF 8482 (with...
All I need is a program that I tell "backup this folder: c:/program files/user/games"
And so that it creates a "games" folder in the root of my portable hard drive and backs it up.
And whenever I make a change to the "games" folder in my computer, the program will automatically see the...
Ugh, I hate posting threads like this but sometimes I guess it's necessary. It's a simple question: What's the difference between these two controllers?
Intel 335 240GB on Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H / 3570K.
Intel RST says I'm connected at 6.0GBs; However I feel that my speeds aren't all that spectacular. Especially writes. Anyone know if these are good numbers?
I was having some issues with my mobo lately, but now when I "solved it" I also quite didn't. My raid array made from SSD Intel 520 120 GB disks into raid0 was working like charm on ASUS Sabertooth P67/Z77, but on Gigabyte Z77X-UP7 it's a mess. Well, not quite, it runs really fast:
We just got done finished setting up our new server, with a fairly high end array and were really put off by the results we got for reads/writes. First off, here is some specs:
2 x E5-2620's w/ SM board
8 x 2TB in Raid-10 for the main storage
2 x 120GB SSD in Raid-1 for ssd caching (cachecade)...
A WD Green 1TB of a friend from a WD Essential external drive box has failed, it will not even spin up when powered. I took it to WD Data recovery service here in Shanghai and the "Techie" said the BIOS has failed and the company wants $500 USD to recover the Data from the drive, about 800GB of...

Just got a Maximus V Formula and a Lsi 9261-8i card and have the same issue. Bios is 1604 on the M5F.
I did get into the web bios for the first time when i had just plugged in the card with 4 new hard drives. After setting up a raid 5 array i rebooted . Ever since that first time i...
I must have missed something along the line, but drives initialized as system drives wont show up on USB for me, and same vice-versa, when they are GPT??
