So, what is Anvil's Storage Utilities? First of all, it's a Storage benchmark for SSD's and HDD's where you can check and monitor your performance. The Standard Storage Benchmark performs a series of tests, you can run the full test or just the read or the write test or you can run a single...

  2. Sticky Thread Sticky: SSD Write Endurance 25nm Vs 34nm

Well, we've started the quest to find out how long an SSD can last. I'm using the Kingston SSDNow 40GB, a rebranded Intel X25-V and One_Hertz is using the new 320 Series 40GB SSD. I'll be posting updates every day, well, thats my intention at least :) This is the status of my SSD just...

  1. pci-e x4 on pch vs direct

Hi, I was wondering for people that have a fully saturated pci-e 2.0 x4 raid card, is there a difference in performance from the slot provided from the pch vs the ones provided by the cpu? Latency/bandwidth differences? Thanks.

  2. 1,400 MB/s Samsung PCI Express SSD for Ultrabooks Enters Mass Production

"Samsung says it began providing the XP941 to major notebook makers earlier this quarter, and that it is available in 512GB, 256GB, and 128GB capacities. The PCIe-based solution obliterates SSDs based on the ?old? SATA 6Gb/s interface, and Samsung promises sequential read performance of up to 1,400...

  3. Any performance differences between mSATA and SATA SSD's? Might use mSATA on Z87 mobo

I totally overlooked this but if there's no performance hit or disadvantage to using mSATA on the motherboard it would make total sense to use this would it not? Other than the mSATA port being right below the waterblock I see no reason not to use it. Thoughts?

  6. Samsung 840 Pro timeouts on Areca RAID

I have an Areca ARC-1882ix-4G-24, firmware 1.51, with 4x SSD's in RAID0 for the OS/boot disk. The SSD's used to be 160GB Intel X25-M G2's and never gave me any problems. A few months ago I upgraded to 256GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD's, with a quarter of the space left as spare area. After months...

  12. Is Raid0 in SSDs a nonsense for the average user?

Hello fellows. I was thinking about either buying 2xSamsung Pro SSD 840 256GB in Raid0 or directly buying the 512GB unit. I have read that the main advantage of raiding is to get extremely lower latencies, but this feature is precisely the one where SSDs shines the most. Data loss is not...
