Love the new DVID option on these new BIOS, but I ran into a problem where you could hear some electric buzzing coming from the motherboard when it's idling and when you run prime or something that forces full voltage it goes away. I think with the overclocks and at idle state the voltage may be a bit too low causing this problem. Maybe allowing us to set the idle vcore would be a good idea.

    Has anyone noticed this?

My voltage settings for DVID enabled.

To be safe, I would run it more than 5 runs - something like 20-30.

Yep, and that isn't the problem.

It's when C1E kicks in as brought up by Homeless over at the Gigabyte/Tweaktown forums when I copy and pasted my post about it over there.

But with C1E disabled, DVID is pretty much disabled too.

Oh well, at least I found out someone else is experiencing this, I'll keep it disabled since I'm running on water I only saw about a -2c difference on idle.

    Hi

I had the same problem here.

If you disable the C1E and ENABLE "C3/C6/C7 State Support" the squealing sounds will stop completely and the DVID works 100%.

    Have fun.

Really? I tried that before posting my last post and didn't see my voltage drop, I'll try again. Thanks for the info.

    *Edit*
I just tried it again and it doesn't work, I am assuming you mean the "C3/C6/C7 State Support" in the bios settings.

It works for me 100%! (C3/C6/C7 State Support enabled)

I will make some pics of my settings and post, it must be some other setting also.

I know my cpu works with 4.2@1.28v. Since i use my pc in idle most of the time i want to use speedstep/c1e, too.
So after flashing with new f9m bios and dynamic vcore i'm a bit confused. I know also that my bios droops around 0.3v with load line calibration and even more (around 0.4-0.5) without.

So can u guys help me with settings ?

Bl0ss0m, with this settings the Dynamic Vcore is working and there is no squealing sound at all. Check it out:

Set vcore to NORMAL and DVID to 0.100 you should get around 1.28 in full. If not make some adjustments.

Hm the only other board that I saw that had this setting was the DFI boards, I wonder if they squealed too with this setting enabled.

I just took a look at your pictures and I had my settings pretty much the same.
c1e disabled, c3/c6/c7 enabled, llc enabled (even llc disabled), vcore normal, dvid +0.08125 for me.

I do have CPU PLL changed but that shouldn't affect dvid.

*Edit* Problem solved in the next post below!

Haha, I just figured it out while I was upstairs, I had changed my power management plan in Windows 7 from balanced to high performance. So went back disabled c1e, enabled the c3 etc, booted back into windows and adjusted my power plan. Everything works now, thanks for helping euonline.

    *Edit*
I played with the c state options more, just disabling c1e and leaving c3/c6/c7 disabled works too. Its only c1e when it is enabled that is causing the squealing.

Hi there XS , I think this is my first post here.

On my UD5 the normal vcore seem to vary depending on what multi / bclk settings i use, not sure which one it is, or if it requires both parameters to be within certain values for it to change, so I'm wondering where does the BIOS get this value from? How is it calculated?

The default vcore value changes when you have turbo mode enable/disabled.

Thanks to euonline for pointing out turning off C1E in exchange for C3/C6/C7 gets rid of the buzzing noise. I thought that buzzing was just something I was going to have to get used to with DVID.

Is it the latest official BIOS that has Dynamic VID control guys?

Looks like a nice little feature to have.

Gives us something extra to play around with when overclocking!!!

The only thing I hate about updating my BIOS is the fact that I have to tweak all the settings again, and most of the times I find that the settings I had used with a previous BIOS don't tend to work for me, so I have to start all over again. . .

Try to make some pictures of the bios pages with your digital camera. It makes much easier to set up the new bios, maybe there will be some small differences but I can guarantee that the new DVID function is worthy.

    Merry Xmas everyone!

Some good info in this thread. Thought I would post my results so far. My first 1366 build. Picked up a xeon and paired that with the ud5 and 6 gigs of crucial ballistics. Stuck with stock air cooling till my water block arrives.
Still learning and I have not played with the ram yet.

DVID works great on mine. At 4.4ghz used to idle at 1.36v now idles at 1.2v, idle temps dropped 4C, idle power dropped 35 watts (kow meter) 32 watts cpu by everest. No buzzing sound on mine with c1e and eist enabled, still linx stable, and S3 still works perfectly.
