Any tips on what voltages to use on ICH, IOH, QPI VTT for 24\7 on 4-4.4GHz
And does anyone know why the TURBO cuts off when going past 235bclk?

Whats so special about that? The PC takes just over 370w full load, with 2x295 it took little over 575W-s in full load. Idles around 230w.
    meh heres some pics:

Anyway, im still searching what is the problem that TURBO drops off after 235bclk

    ^ Are u sure?
It just takes only 370w @ full load only if u run them @ default clocks ....
If not Buddy ur calculations are wrong ,Bcoz my system(u can see my sig.)
It takes about 300w idle & 500w full load.......
Measured ur wattage with any instrument or ur own calculation ....

    No offense

anyway nice rig man ,nice & clean

lmao@ people with ridiculously high watt consumption.

Buy a REAL energy meter. most of them are totally inaccurate.

Most of the cheap kill o watt meters publish an accuracy of within 1% or better. I can plug mine up to a 200 Watt lamp, with 200W bulb and kow meter reads 197W. Same for several other appliances of known wattage, all register within 1-2% accuracy.

Here is someone who did an independent review of cheap $20 kow meter, again found accuracy within 1% comparing to known wattages.
    http://www.safehomeproducts.com/shp2...ter_Report.pdf

Here is another from Johnny guru forum using cheap kow meter compared to Valhalla Scientific 2101 Digital Power Analyzer (~$650 and supposed accuracy to .2%), again cheap kow meter tested accuracy ranged from 0 to 3%.

Sure they are not acceptable for the power company in terms of accuracy, but if my kow meter says I am pulling 650W from wall, it isnt going to be more than 10-20W off.

But since I am not planning on using this info to dispute the power company bills, I can accept 1-3% error. Even 10% error, which never have seen would still mean at 650W, not more than 65W off.

When you say these are so inaccurate, what percentage, and where are you getting your information? Can I see the study, which kow meter, when it was done?

Because I am new to the Core I7 and X58 platform, I used this guide from Gigabyte

Notice how high he sets the voltages for the Vcore and QPI/VTT !
Well, to get a stable 4.2 GHZ so did I apparently. I tried lower voltages but would get BSOD withing 2 minutes of ORTHOS. I can get a stable 4Ghz at 1.4V with Turbo Boost disabled.

Now here's where I get freaked out. While running Orthos (one instance for each core, 2 threads per instances) at 4.2 GHZ and the above mentioned 1.5V , my core temps jump as high as 79C!!!! That's on freakin' water! Is this normal? And my idle temps again at 1.5 are between 42C and 46C.
With Turbo boost disabled, a vcore of 1.4 my temps idle between 37C and 41C and can reach 71C during Orthos.

This is my third watercooled build and I'm fairly sure that the CPU block is properly seated. I mean it's hard to install the Swiftech GTZ poorly. Could it be the Radiator not performing to specs? On my previous build I had a quad 120mm rad, cooling an OCed E8600 to 4.5 Ghz and a Radeon 4870X2 and my temps idled in the 24C to 28C range and never went above 62 at full load. That's what I'm used to seeing.

Also, I'm confused as to why CPUZ reports a Core Voltage of 1.392 even thought I set it to 1.5V.

Anyway, sorry for the lengthy post. If anyone on here could put in their 2 cents I'd much appreciate it.

    Thank you very much.

Well iv been hitting a wall trying to get much over 4.2Ghz. As my CPU will do 4.2Ghz LinX stable with 1.23v i was thinking i must have a bad mobo that just couldnt handle the BLCK. Today though i decided to stick most to auto and have ago finding max BLCK. It turns out it must be my bad clocks and not the hardware or my CPU just needs a massive jump in voltage to raise its speed much over 4.2Ghz. I was surprised by the amount of QPI/Vtt and vcore it needed to run at this BLCK.

Hopefully now i know its capable of 221BLCK that I can get to 4.5Ghz 24/7

I hate my i7 920/EX58-UD5 setup, it can't even do 200 BLCK, stuck at 191*21.

Today i redit all my tests with the latest F9M Bios.
And i have isolated the problem. What i did:

Flashed the bios in dos with the autoexec.bat. Loaded optimal settings. Left everything stock. System booted:
Then set Uncore Multi 20x = System boots (default)
Then set Uncore Multi 19x = System fails and resets bios
Then set Uncore Multi 18x = System fails and resets bios
Then set Uncore Multi 17x = System fails and resets bios (i used 24/7 on the F7 bios)
Then set Uncore Multi 16x = System fails and resets bios
Then set Uncore Multi 21x = System boots
Then set Uncore Multi 22x = System boots

So it seems everything below stock is locked. And everything above works fine. But i'm running 195 QPI so with 20x muli my Uncore would be 3.9 GHz and i cant get that stable.

I have this problem with all BIOS version from F8 and higher. F6 and F7 work fine.

Is there anyone that has the same problem ? or am i the only one ?
    System Specs: -=Game PC=- | -=Lan Box=-

Try bumping your voltages by quite a bit. I have to increase my vcore by .1 before it will budge past 191x21

I'll give that a try but won't heat become a problem then?, I already hit the mid 70's load with 1.325V, at 1.425V I can probably expect low to mid 80's.

    sli question ud5

hi everyone i was wondering if i can run 2x 285s in sli but using the 1st and the 3rd pci-e slot mainly becuse if it in the 1st and 2nd there will be to close for my likeing it says in the instructions that the 3rd slot only runs 8x and not 16x so will one of the cards run half the speed

hi, ive got a small concern here with my UD5..

The power LED on my casing seems to be blinking under normal operation, while the manual says thie led should stay light up.

googled and people have been saying DES might be the reason behind the blinking power LED, but i've not installed any utilities from the cd yet.

bios of my ud5 is F8e, could it be a bios issue?
