I am trying to get my RAM stable but having a few issues.

I am a bit unsure about the GTL refs etc which I am sure is my issue..however not knowing too much about them I am unsure what to change to try to get stable.

I have been able to run memtest no worries at these settings @ 1350Mhz.

As this ram is rated at 1800 i would have thought I would be stable at 1441Mhz but fail memtest within 10 mins everytime. Again in need of more tweaking which it where yu guys come in

I have the CPU running at stock as I have dropped the multi to keep that out of the picture -and have run Intel Burn test and Prime and the CPU is stable.

    Where should I start?
I have a theory, those Corsair are probably Samsung IC and RE donīt like Samsung at all, I have similary problem with my 2x2 Trencend, I having a hard time to get them to work with my Q9650 @ FSB 450, ram @ 1800MHz CAS 8 2N but with FSB 400, ram @ 1600MHz CAS 7 1N (even though they are dubble sided 1N seems to work) they seems to work alright.

I work with 1104 right know and I have not tried 1201 yet.

But try this setup and see if it works.

    FSB Frequency: 400
CPU Ratio Setting: take your pick
CPU Clock Skew: Normal (or Delay 100ps)

Thank you so much Ghost. Yep this Corsair RAM is the v4.1 that uses the Samsung Chips.(I would think the same as your Transend)

I wil give your suggestions ago and see what happens, no matter what I have tried today I get massive amount of errors at 9mins in Memtest so fingers crossed .

Just a thought.. This RAM has the XMP profile..I hate using these preset profiles but what about if I select that XMP profile and then check in the BIOS (before I load in to the OS) to see what that sets the timings at???
Then didtch the XMP profile and manually put in the XMP profile settings...as I say its just a thought

I have exact the same problem with Ghostleader, but with my CSX D9GTR 2x2... I cannot make them work at 1800mhz/ and the cpu at 450 FSB...At 1601mhz all seems to be ok... I am with 1201 bios... I've tried both 333 and 400 strap, no luck..I have the ram at A2/B2..I've tried messing with skews but no luck again, CPU NB skews Delay 100 and CLK A2 advance 50, CLK B2 advance 25

Well I have to expand my theory and add that RE donīt like 2Gb modules ~1800MHz.
BTW I didnīt know that they make/made 2Gb moduls (dubble side) with Micron D9GTR.

I donīt know what to do to make my 2x2 to work on this RE.
I have a Gigabyte EP45T-UD3P inbound, gonna test the same on that board to se if it works.

Yopu can try it but I doubt if going to work.

My Trencend are also XMP but it doesnīt work (neither did my Dominator 1800C7D) so I set it manual in bios.

There you go http://www.csx-memory.com/?site=show...article_id=630... ... But i cannot understand, its the same chipset (X48), with other m/bs how is this possible? With my old Evo (x48), i ran at 1800 24/7, same things at a Gigabyte X48T-DQ6, and they can go further with little push... Im gonna try some tweaks with 2x2 and i'll inform later.

Well Ghost I am beginning to think you are on to something with your theory. Ram Memtest last night with your suggested settings and passed 11hrs with no errors. So firstly thanks for that - that was a great help.

I will try 450 today(1800) but I think I already know whats going to happen. I will relax to the specified 8-8-8-24 2n and see what happens.

It will be interesting to see what the results are with the Gigabyte board , i just replaced a GA EP45T-UD3R with this RE. I was struggerling with this corsair on that too, hence why I updated with this RE.
I have a set of (4GB)OCZ ReaperX 1066 that I played around with on the Gigabyte board and I could really push it hard with tight timings and was really rock stable - much less work than this Corsair

I've tried Elpida Hyper on this baby and it can do nearly 1900, 2000 is a no go...the NB can't handle it, try tweaking dram skews and NB DDR vRef~

Nope..no way can I get to 450fsb. I am beginning to think that is a Quad issue.

Lookinga round it seems that the quad are a nightmare to get high FSB's

Might hook myslef up a e8600 dual core.

Me too, no luck getting 450fsb@1800mhz with CSX..Tommorow i'll try 2x2 Dominators i have...I managed to boot system at 450fsb, but at 7 min on OCCT i got a bsod all this with tweaking of cpugtls (-40/auto/-40/auto) and NB gtl at +40...I've tried a lot of combinations of skews/cpugtls-nbgtls but still no luck,They are too sensitive ...I'll install dominators tommorow and try
@Crazymilk, what bios do you use?

Im still thinking its the 450fsb on the quad causing the issues rather than the RAM having problems.

I have read alot regarding the high fsb on quads and the majority of people with them and 1800mhz RAM are having to settle at 400Mhz (1600Mhz). A bit of a bummer but with the QX quads and a unlocked multi then not too much of an issue with reard to raw speed.

I would like to proved wrong by anybody who has thier quad stable @ 450 fsb and ram at 1800Mhz but I am struggling to find many - if any

I was rock stable at 1800@450fsb with mine q9650 on P5E64 Evolution with dominator and not only this, but rock stable at 490fsb too, but with devider 5:8 because the chipset ran out of bandwith, and i couldnt get 1950mhz...

    Ok thats interesting.

I shall clock my RAM down and up the fsb to 450 to see if it is stable at 450.
That way I can rule that out on my 9650 - am I right in thinking that if I do that and am stable it will confirm that the CPU is no the issue with the 450FSB??

    Thanks

    Run my Q9650 @ 450 ram @ 1800 2x1, 4x1 was/is no problem with my Dominator 1800C7.

Check these two posts, 2198, 2208

There is no way I can run my 2x2 Trencend (Samsung IC) stable @ 1800, tried lose timing, lose tRD, lose Twister, volt up and down, GTLs up and down bou no , donīt know whatīs .

It boot fine into Win 7, can browse the internet, play games for a while but freeze or reboot.

Funny, those Trencend have XMP so it should work with Intel chip but no, not with my X48, Iīm about to try them in my new EP45-UD3P that arrived yesterday to see if the P45 chipset like them better.

I ahve included below a couple of screenies that I currently have fully stable and the max i can get out of my RAM.

As you can see I have kept the FSB at 400 because the RAM beocmes unstable no matter what I try on anything over 1600Mhz. The ram is rated at 1800Mhz so that is what is getting to me.

I run the CPU at 450FSB and clocked the RAM down and done all the usual stress test and it passes no problem so I know my Mobo/CPU are comfortable running @ 450FSB ( I even managed to get a stable FSB of 465).
So my theory is the RAM is the issue when trying to get 1800MHZ.

I have tried tweaking the DRAM clock skews etec etc but nothing seems to help getting anything over 1600Mhz
    I am using A2/B2 slots

Run ram @ 1600 with FSB 400, strap 200 is so sweet, low volt overall with a pretty good OC, this is when I compare to the other straps @ FSB 400. See this post, downside is that 3,6GHz are to low for some but for me itīs good enough, I mostly game with a highend card so 3,6 compare to 4,0 doesnīt make much of a different but somehow it feels much better for me to run 4,0 insteed of 3,6, weird but thatīs just me.

Would had been nice to have a multi 10 on the Q9650 then I had put it on FSB 400 and multi 10 for a 4,0GHz and run my ram @ 1600, it had been good enough for my.

Okey, back to real world, I run P95 blend 4 instances with 925Mb ram each right now with FSB 450, 4,05GHz and ram @ 1800 888 24 2N, DRAM Static auto, DRAM Dynamic auto, Twister auto and Transaction auto, looking good after 1hr, I get back to you with my progress.

Got passed 2hr mark, still looking good, some volt are high but once I have it stable I work to get those down.

Just remember that I read somewhere that samsung donīt like strong drive compare to Micron, canīt remember where though and Iīm not sure if I remember this right, have to look into this.

crazymilk, you have PL5 and AiTwister to strong? try to loosen up the PL or set to auto and you might get stability

He is stable with tRD5, Twister strong @ 1600 CAS7, problem lies with ram @ 1800 and 2x2Gb. He stated that in his post, hereīs a quote.

This setup with strap 200 @ FSB 400 and ram @ 1600 CAS7 is a bit special on this X48 board even though tRD5 looks low but it is a sweetspot at FSB 400.

Yep it does seem a sweet spot.

Is that with your P45 gigabyte mobo?
