I'm not sure by this design, that's remember me a fan

It's just too simple and basic for this build.

I think it would be more cool to take the design of the front plate , you can transform it and mix it with more round design ( basicaly a sort of crop circle)
It have to be cool but discrete

Just my 2 cent.

nice, i new there was another way of fliping the internals since theres that set of holes in the case but haven't cared enough to take the time. i kinda don't like that way because the only source of air getting to the board and stuff is the 2 back 90mm fans but that only matters if your using air cooling. also you'll need to rig a way to cover the gap in the 5.25 bays next to the hard drives. you should start a build log for it, i would love to see pics when its completed.

The acrylic panel would look fantastic, but what about the heat in the case?
There are no fans in the back of your box. The only fans are the one´s from the radiators.
Even if there are "holes" in this panel it would get pretty hot in there.
But I´m sure you already have an idea for this one.

PS: Looking forward

That's a very unique idea Seb. I look forward to seeing your project when you're able to continue.

hehe, you may be right about the fan design. I think if its transparent it might not be so bad. I'll keep thinking about a new design but meanwhile I'll have this one cut just to see how it looks. I don't want to over-design the thing - my thinking was to create a simple design that you'd expect to see at the top of a case. My goal is for people to see past the acrylic and focus more on what's inside.

Hey Steffen.

I don't think heat buildup should be a problem as long as the warm air is able to escape out the top. I've got some temp probes I'll use to test this theory just to be sure. Of course for an air/fan cooled system this design would not work. Oh, there's a 120mm fan in the front bays to cool the HDs. This fan also helps circulate the air in the upper section.

solely from a designers point of view, that top piece doesnt work.
generally when i look at the Tj07 the most prominent shapes are
obvious (rectangle, half cylinders, a lot of flat faces) to me that
would detract from the case as a whole. based from my observation
it is very hard to create anything inspired from the case alone but
im sure you can come up with something. to be honest the mesh
was closes to being perfect when it came to linear design.

maybe you can tie the top design with the front as well as from the
side. that way there interest on all sides, making it a whole again.

none the less, youve made art of everything here and i am very
excited to see whats next

why not do a regular rad grill style? i'd like to do this for my tj07 (i'm in the process of cutting one out with my dremel to see how it looks but finding a job is taking priority). it would be less restrictive than the mesh, look fairly standard and depending on how you did it you could still offer the option of mounting fans to it.

something like the pic below, it would have to be custom made of course for the tj07's opening but you should be able to use the same holes that the stock mesh thing does. the stock holes may need to be enlargened and/or drilled all the way thru the case but you could use socket head cap screws and imo, it would still look nice and clean.

you could even make the same thing out of metal and use it for your regular customers or tj07 owners in general and people like me could/would buy one

Thanks for the reply charles
Forgot about the 120mm in the front bay, but is this fan able to get cool air from outside?
If yes, how?

Same idea as you, that grill need a more linear structure but not like rad grill. More inspired by the shapes of the case.

I'm sure you are going to find the right design Charles.

The more I look at it the more I agree with you guys - it doesn't match the rest of the case. Thanks for the feedback - I'll keep plugging away at it.

Steffen: There are openings at the front of the midplate where air moves from the lower to the upper section. As long as the case isn't air tight, there is always airflow - the thing to consider is circulation and as long as the murderMod case is used with water cooling, there should be no problem.

how bout geting some fine mesh and a thin pliers .. then snap a few mesh wires to create a different design pattern?

Nice
And how did you mount this 120mm in the front?
I know I have a lot of questions, but this is one interesting project

The case comes with a mesh grill which looks very nice. Your idea is interesting - creating a design by removing parts of the mesh would be a challenging proposition. I have an extra top grill from a trashed TJO7 I could experiment on.

I used one of the hard drive enclosures that comes with the case - mounted vertically. These enclosures are designed to also house a 120mm fan.

Project Update: I came up with a new design for the opening at the top. It's simple - but perhaps a bit busy. I'll have one cut to see how it looks. I would have rather run the lines in the other direction but there was no way without having to break them every 6" or so which would ruin the linear flow. Without the breaks they would sag. With this orientation and at 5mm thickness, they should be alright - we'll see. The continuous opening is 2mm wide which should be enough to provide decent airflow. I didn't want the opening to be so wide that things could easily fall into the case.

If this design doesn't work out we'll go with the original black grill. I just wanted to create something that offered a view into the case from the top and allowed airflow; I certainly don't want to add something that diminishes from the overall aesthetic.

Just waiting on the EK Nickel blocks and white LED strip lights. we're in the home stretch now.

I agree with you, the lines running the other way would probably not be strong enough.

I love the fact that you will be able to see the hampster wheel from the top of the case- not just the side.
