very inspiring stuff going on here...I'm attempting to sleeve an 24-pin extension just for practice...since I'm not ready to commit just yet...right now, having an awful hardtime removing the wires off the male end of the extension.
My cheapy Sunbeamtech 2-prong is not doing its job and I can't pull the wires out

the bigger female end is no problem.

if I go that route, its hard to shrink the individual wires on the male end since the wires are so close together.

This is really original - sleeving applied on the watercooling hoses. I saw hundreds of casemods and every few and then something original or extremely well executed and conceived sets the benchmark from which other casemods are measured. Another aspect which I like about Murderbox systems is the benchmark-setting wiremamagement which is done with absolutely no compromises.

Thanks for the comments Guys. I know I keep saying that but I sincerely mean it. Like Fried Chicken said; your support and encouragement totally motivates me. This worklog is coming to an end soon but a new one will start, hopefully before the end of July. The project will be "pure|murderbox", a one-off creation I'm very excited about. It's going to be something.

MMmmm yum. Great pics. Personally i think it lacks colour, but then it's not my build is it. Amazing work with the sleeving too. One quick question; what tube clamps did you use?

It's funny you say it lacks color - I made a slight modification today that may just address that concern. All new pics coming soon.

As for hose clamps, I used mostly the resealable ones found here. Not because I wanted to be able to reseal them, but because they're wider than normal nylon tie wraps.

how do you mount the hdd ?? can you make more photo of that area ??

I use these critters painted black. Anyone who ever bought an internal zip drive knows what they are.

What is the direction of flow? It almost appears that if it's going into the cpu block first then it would be going in the outlet. Otherwise the pump is pumping into the reservoir.

The flow is pump>cpu>gpu1>gpu2>res>rad1>rad2

Charles, any chance you'll be offering the center piece (with the display) that separates the lower/upper section? I'll also be modding my TJ07 when I get it, but I won't be routing any cables throught the pre-manufactured holes.

Yes Martijn we will be. The only drawback with that configuration is you're limited, rad wise. The Matrix Orbital display has two PCBs and drops down a fair bit below the midplate. I cover the underside with a Hammond project box to clean it up. There's a slight modification required to the existing TJ07 midplate - I'll provide a template and detailed instructions. A couple more weeks and hopefully we'll be ready to start taking murderMod orders. We're still sorting out a few details.

I think only you, me, your wifey and your fish know how much effort you have put into this. It is really too bad that pictures are 1/10th of the story.

It's all technique, the tool is not that critical. When I started doing sleeves, it took forever to get the pins out. After a bit of practice, it gets much easier. You'll see, once you get the hang of it they come out like butter.



Project Update: Leaks fixed. A few of the stopper fittings were lumpy. I replaced them and took the opportunity to make some tweaks to the loop. I also made another alteration that will have to be seen rather than explained in words. Some may dig it, some may not. I'm liking it so far but it can always be "undone". No need to guess - the finale worklog pics are coming very soon.

Charles, you're a genius beyond measure. I look at this thread twice daily anticipating more from you, and when you deliver, it's always worth the wait. I wish more people had your artistic, detail-oriented approach to other areas of life. It certainly would make life easier. Anyway, I'm looking forward to some great wall papers!!

I have had a similiar mount with these HDD-Silencers and it was mounted on the bottom of the HDD attached to the side of the 5,25 bracket like yours. That was pretty much more silent. Maybe you would like to check the difference. It´s worth it.

I assume its because of the aesthetics?

What a buttload of additional work over sleeving the thing in its entirety though

Project Update: I figured I'd mount the EK blocks to the cards in hopes that that would help summon an IO shield of build finishing. This is my 1st experience with EK products so I followed the instructions carefully. After joining the card to the block, I noticed there was a gap as a result of the power regulator block not being flush with the water block. I tried reseating it a few times with no luck. I then switched to an other ALU power reg block and it had the same problem. It appears the Nickel block is the culprit. The other Nickel block is fine. Shame the problem isn't the ALU block as I have two of those from the original copper blocks.

There's the problem - the ALU block is on an angle - yikes!

This is a little OT, but I just got my 9800GTX block today (also Nickel woOt) and I'm wondering now if I have the same problem. The Nickel block appears to be fine, as I laid a ruler across the ram sinks and they're perfectly straight. I think I have a problem with the alu block though, it curves slightly away from the card. That's not supposed to do that right? I mean, I would have to use some pretty thick pads to fill the gap. Can someone tell me if this is the same issue?? Do I need to replace this block or the Alu-piece, or is it normal? (no experience here).

I use rubber bushings between the brackets and the case to reduce vibration and sound but I'll definitely look into those, cheers.

Ah man, sounds like you've got the same problem.

On mine it was the block that was the problem, not the Alu piece. Quoc @ Petra's theorized that the threads in the Nickel block are most likely at an angle.

I reckon you'll need a new block, on mine the angle resulted in the ram not making proper contact with the block. Yours may not be as bad but for the price of these things, it should be perfect, yes.

BTW the build is awesome! Is that a LED light strip off the flange at the top? Pretty nice. I'm thinking that I might have to 'borrow' that filiport idea for my build as it would fit perfect, have you ever heard any issues with filling bleeding in your feedback?

I actually pulled the LED strip lights as they turned out a bit too "Night at the Roxbury". I did something else to create contrast that I'm actually really happy with. As for the loop question; I've had no troubles filling and bleeding the loop with the fillport on the back. Took roughly 20 mins to get all the air pockets out.

I got so sick of cleaning greasy fingerprints I started working with surgical gloves. At 1st they were a pain but now I'm used to them - sometimes I forget I've got them on and go to the store in them. I get some funny looks.

I’d like to say It has been a pleasure sharing the experience of building Fried Chicken’s murderbox with you guys. I now know that worklogs are the way to go and this is only the 1st of many for me here at XtremeSystems. While these pictures represent the conclusion of the build, I may take a few more over the coming days, and if I do, I’ll be sure to post them. I will say that I think I’ve got the inside covered. Anymore pics will be of the exterior.

Before I conclude, I’d like to take this moment to thank Nils (dualbrain) who I’m pleased to say, is now my new business partner in murderbox. I’m excited about the future and look forward to working with Nils.

This computer composition is dedicated to Nils – I had an issue with this build regarding the lack of black in the so called “black” coolant. The only solution I could think of to achieve the look I was going for was to braid the hoses in black sleeving. Nils had planned to create a machine with braided hoses but graciously suggested I go ahead and use the idea. This meant that his plans were now shelved since the idea would have already been done. Cheers Nils, and thank you for motivating me to do my best.
