I'm not trying to antagonise you, I really want this card to rock, but I think it's unrealistic to expect miracle boosts from newer drivers. Take the performance at face value today... any increase in the future will then be a pleasant surprise

In this matter i think it can be, because the drivers are much less mature then we used to get at a new launch. For example, dvd playback is horrible at the moment, twice as slow then a X1950XTX (cant find the review anymore :S).
