How can performance numbers be biased? Those are the results, simple fact.

The card is what I consider silent, the card I tested did not have any high pitched whirrs or whines and when the fan picked up speed when gaming it was still in-audible unless I put my head rather close to the case.

Truth is I did this over a month ago and in my notes never wrote down the NV driver issue, hence I made an error, can't be perfect all the time. :p

I openly admitted that my game testing knowledge is not vast and hence I may have got things wrong. Plus the games I tested with was limited. However DOOM3 was easy and simple as was Fear. The result are as they are and as you can see in Fear for myself it performed poorly compared to a GTX.

I've posted this information because most of the members here know me, some even personally and because of that know I just post the results I get and as such respect I've decided to do so and give people my thoughts. 99% of people appreciate it and then the minority like yourself pick faults with my post.

I am a sales person, but as already stated people here know I say it like it is. As such with the AMD FX 4x4 series I openly admitted they are crap and hence would not sell them. Just like I did with the 8600GTS cards.

Fact is irrelevant of your comments I shall continue doing what I do. :p

Hold on, at the time both cards used the latest drivers available. Fact is now 3-4 weeks after I did my review both NV and ATI have released new drivers.

Also all testing was done under what seemed identical settings for each card. On 3D Mark drivers were set to highest performance on both NV and ATI. For games it was the opposite for both cards with high quality been set on both drivers.

Of course I've done this to help boost our sales, fact is today we will sell a lot of R600 product and no doubt even more GTS and GTX cards.

Typical release day price gouging gits. They're watching OcUK's price and their own sales and change accordingly. It wouldn't be so bad if they has some stock.

Maybe not, but the card is the flagship and says everything about the company, flagships allways do battle with each other. Always have been like that.

So you can't blaim people really, even ATI initially designed it to compete with the GTX, but just failed.

Flagships might compare each other but ATI was comparing against the GTS. There XTX card isn't out which compares with the GTX cards.

Basically it seemed that we were getting run in a circle as each company told us to contact the other company and no one would give up the latest benchmark build. At first I wasn't going to use the benchmark utility as when a company hands you a disc and says try this out it throws off every red flag in my book, not to mention the fact that the benchmark utility was based off an old build version that had bugs fixed in newer versions. After running the benchmark and taking screenshots to compare the image quality I couldn't resist not running this benchmark as the findings were actually not in AMD's favor. Yes, the benchmark that AMD and ATI handed out the to the press for the launch of the ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT actually played out to favor NVIDIA even though the latest build was not handed out to the media.

I'd say that benchmark is just a little bit suspect. Heh.

Call of Juarez DX10 Benchmark

ATI RADEON HD 2900 XT (R600) 512MB PCI-E is generally very successful for its price. It obviously and definitely outperforms the competing GeForce 8800 GTS. But we still feel that drivers do not allow the novelty to spread wings, especially with AA. So, let's wait for updates.

Meanwhile, we can state the following:

* Excellent performance for 1600x1200 even with AA+AF
* Fully-fledged DX10 support;
* HQ anisotropy by default
* New AA modes
