Flash is highly recommended for shooting droplets indoor or even in full light, it freezes the motion, gives a great lightning effect and lights up the patterns, thus, I only had to practice a while with the timings then I got it right, I would release the drop with left hand and trigger the shutter with a remote. Although am not expert in it, it was my first trial. Since you cant use continuous with flash, I had to rely on my timings for the shot.
