now XS' got me all gender confused...

    yea.. i need help... seriously...

the 24pin ATX connector... this is shown as male

and this is shown as female...

now, hold your horses... last time i went to the bathroom, it seems that the male has the pecker that pokes the female, right?

now if you look at the plastic enclosure... the female goes inside the male... wtf?

or is it that we're dealing with the terms male/female in the metal connectors inside?

    i'm confused...

btw, thanks dr4gon for your uber pics!

I have noticed this discrepancy as well and I think this sums it up correctly.

Ha ... we are just trying to confuse you guys so we can take over the world

Actually ... it is the pins/receptacles in the connectors that are referred to as male and female ... at least that's how they are designated when you buy them.

edit: oops, seems SNiiPE beat me to it.

lol, the amount of times i seen this confusion on gigs (i was a sound engineer) is unreal, the usual culprit was XLR connections,

ide be on the phone saying 'i need 12 female to female XLR and i would end up with 12 male to male, rule of thumb is the actual connection parts are the parts the sex is reffered to,

Blame the women mate. They're just trying to confuse us males even more, and slow us down by multitasking.

    This is messed up..
Everyone knows the female has the "innee" and the male has the "outee"..
Or that old famous line about the new father who'd just seen his newborn daughter:
"What happenned? There's no stem on the apple!"

lol glad it was cleared up!

I was trying to think how to name it (and totally went for the way to confuse the most people!)

Anyways, it's much easier to tell on the 4-pin molex , although the male still has the outer receptacle which is still odd, but the male parts are more ... prominent.

I used my custom tool for the male parts, and staples for the female pins.

so... um... in the world of the XS and PSU Molex's... the pecker's got a thick foreskin?
now do we need to go and have a religious discussion to fully understand the gender specification of the connectors?
