    Shazza,

I know it's going to be a lot of work, but we're gonna need all the pretty pics back - at your convenience of course.

Okie Dokie ... I was going to wait until I had some newer pics to repost, but it may take me a while longer to give it another go. Here are the ones I have so far to show the (almost) completed build:

The front ... still not satisfied, more to come on that later

A top down view ... it looks tiny here

The GPU side ... a little Photoshop license with the spotlight effect

Those cheapo fan guards don't look bad at all. Although they aren't the best fit with the Mountain Mods case. I'm still experimenting with the naked grill look.

    Then, this happened:

Unguarded fans look so awesome but they're a bit dangerous obviously. If only there was some sort of invisible shield or something. /me camps out 'til 2050.

Honestly my favorite setup (in terms of looks + practicality) would be the non-LED, black fans you have in that last picture with standard run-of-the-mill black wire grills.

My 12 year old daughter would be sad if she saw the plight of those poor teddy bears. I don't care for fan guards myself, and try to run without them whenever possible. Fortunately, I don't have any overly curious stuffed animals.

    Hey Shaz,

Sorry I know I've asked this before, but can you link me to the exact LCD screen you bought? I might try and organise a group buy here in Aus, but I'm not sure which is the one to get.

    Cheers!

PS...Lol, is that Nils and Charles in teddy bear form? :P

    LCD's are dying and old.

The new gen which is a lot nicer is a small 5-7inch touch screen LCD and using a program called samurize to pick up CPUID values.

But i think shazza is using either a 4 line display Matrix Oribital or looks like the matrix typhoon.

if you do go LCD make sure you get a VFD display. There is no competition between the normal vs. VFD.

    Shazza,

I really like the last configuration of the fans, very classy.

And isn't that a four line "CrystalFontz" display?

Yep ... the display is the 4-line 634 USB Crystal Fontz display, using the CrystalControl2 software. ( http://www.crystalfontz.com/products/select_kit.html) I'm using the Aquaero for fan control/temp monitoring, and Everest Ultimate to get my info to the CC2 software.

But now NaeKuh says I'm obsolete and I haven't even finished the build Actually, I did want to go with a larger LCD, so maybe we'll go that route next. For now, I do like having the Crystal Fontz display my info.

And ... good to see the naked fan look is getting some approval - I much prefer the black S-Flex look to the blue LED YLs. It actually looks very good in RL. Of course, setting up to try to take some decent photos is still something I have to do. Before I can do that, I have to finish organizing my new den/game room - since my husband has moved out of our shared office and has taken over one of the guest rooms. He, ummmm, seemed to find my presence in "his" office annoying

I like the pic with the teddies in the fans, reminds my of my child who would do the same thing if I permitted it. But yeah I am in the same obsolete boat as you are and maybe even more so because I am using the Alphacool LCD which is okay and all but would like a nice little touch screen in there with full color instead of just blue and white.

    Hi there PaRn ssR.

And for the sake of the children, let me assure everyone that NO Teddy Bears were harmed during the simulation in the previous pic I did learn one thing --- it is NOT a good idea to try to wipe the front of the case when the fans (S-Flex E) are spinning --- ouch And then, I keep thinking what will happen if I turn my head and get hair caught in the fan blades ... maybe shorter hair is in order before I end up needing plastic surgery.

Come to think about it, maybe that's how I can justify that eyelift I've been pondering...

I just don't like that green led fans and I think there is too much light in the front...
