System gets really hot, it is idling around 53'C, and it doesn't take much load before it hits 60'C, even with a strong fan blowing directly on the NB-cooler.
Anybody has tried to look under the NB-cooler? How is the condition av goop, and should be changed? Or anybody has found a good way to improve the NB/system cooling on air?

tried fan on PWM I/O connector area as well ? Do you have the flame freezer heatpipe installed as well ? Applied any TIM paste on the heatpipe that attaches to back I/O area ?
latest beta on DFI web site is 02/06. Latest pre-beta is 02/17 no idea what has changed or improved yet as I haven't tried 02/17 yet.
bold items only show up if you have 965 cpu, 920/940 won't show. IOH/ICH tweak is voltage related first post at http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=214381

hey eva, any word on the electrical buzzing sound from the mosfet area? It only happens on load (ie priming) its not disturbingly loud, but its not the most comforting sound either, sounds like something's gonna short out or something. Seems like quite a few people on the forums have the problem and both mine and my brother's board does too. I sent mine back as an rma, but if its a prevalent problem chances are I'll get one with it again, is it safe?
According to RGONE/Praz on DFIClub forums it's normal not that I have noticed such noise since 2x 120x38mm scythe ultra kaze 2000rpm push/pull fans are on my TRUE120 heatsink and I have 120x25mm 81cfm fan over NB heatsink area![]()

Well yes i have the buzzing sound too but not like your mine is when i load a 3d game under windows screen but lost it if i set to full srceen. strange isn't it from what i remember my board before the DFI also had that sound to. or is it my psu need more power ( now 850w silverstone )??????

i hear the sounds 2.. high pitch noises and hissing.. DFI says that the sounds is coming from resonating mosfets or something like that. Btw i have a hx1000.Also whats strange on my mobo is that when i shutdown vista the fan(120mm) coneccted to the NB fan still keeps turning... Something funky is going on with my mobo....
Kingston Hyper X, 3x2GB.

I don't have enough space in my case to place a fan directly over PWM area. I have installed flame freezer with some lazy TIM too, but I didn't pay much attention on fitting it properly. I guess i didn't have much believe on it. I will try to re-installing it with better TIM and fitting, and see how it works.
Tanks for the tips.

Now all you need is an x64 OS so as not to waste 3GB of ram![]()
@praz
can you do a superpi 1m..we have the same memory and settings... i got 10.187seconds
ok if experience some wierd votlage readings. hear a loud hissing sound or highpitch noise under 100% load..... check if you don't have a voltage leak... my DFI board had some strange things... when i turned of the computer(shutdown vista) a low rpm 120mm led fan rotated slowly(connected to the NB fanheader).... it hapenned when the bernsteinaudiomodule was connected.... i think it's important that u use a low rpm 120mm fan to test it because they can run on verry low voltages.....
hope it will help some ppl who experience some wierd things with their DFI MB

Some update on this ..
I have re-installed the flame freezer. This time with good PIM paste, and good fitting (which wasn't easy to archive), and it is cooling much better. My System/PWM-temp has dropped 3'C on idleand it is holding withing the safe temp on load too. I didn't think this "thing" would be much useful, but it is proven to be wrong.

nah that's just copy and pasting my bios template at http://i4memory.com/f80/dfi-lp-ut-x5...emplate-12919/
It doesn't show up for i7 920/940 any more as it's only a 965 feature. DFI just released 2/17 beta bios which changed some settings in bios for Thermal Management Control etc
02/17 beta
- CPU shutdown temp use DTS.
- Modify “Thermal Management” 、”TDC” and “TDP” function.
- Added CPU Die temp item.
- Update Intel micro code for new CPUs function.

Ok, thats why..
Thanks for clarifying that.
New Bios, with Update Intel micro code for new CPUs function sounds good, new revision i7 can't be far away :o) Looking forward to buy another i7, my 3837B390 is'nt the best buy i made.
