I will give the settings a try and post back this evening.
if you still having an overclock failure message, then try bump down CPU FSB to 445 (i also suspect that your CPU may require high core voltage)
and if no more problem at 445fsb, then save your bios setting, and then try below setting.
    and post back anyways.

Since I'm not using RAID, I assume I can safely remove the Gigabyte RAID Manager software that was install by default from the CD. Can anyone confirm this to put me at ease. Thanks!

Just to update you on those mem volts and 2:40 strap problem.

The volts now are all below stock My RAM says 2.1v to run at 1066Mhz and it's running 1200 (7x500) or 1200 (9x500) at low voltages 2.03vdimm.

The problem was the MCH Reference! Once I figured that setting out all my Memtest errors wore gone and I could low the voltages considerably.

Regarding the 2:40 strap problem with MCH above 1.40v I just confirm that only happens with 2Gb sticks of ram, 1Gb even thou you wanna use 4 sticks the mobo boots fine above 1.4vmch, but with 2Gb sticks nada. Common Gigabyte fix this!

I'm very stisfied with this mobo.

I'm at 1.5mch right now with these 9600's 9x500 1200mhz. Anything you want me to try concerning your issues? I'm glad to help you with any settings you want me to try. Also please list your stable bios template for us for 1200mhz. Thanks again.

You think 8gb of these 9600's will run at 1200mhz?

The only strap I cannot use above 1.4vmch is 2:40. It simple wont boot above 1.4mch, so if your using 2 x 2Gb's of my same G.Skill 9600Pi and strap 2:40 at 1.5mchI would really like to know whats the problem here.

Repeating I tried 4 UD3P's, 2 PSU's and 2 set's of Pi's and all are bogos, as soon as I use my cheap Hyper-X 2Gb kit MCh goes all the way to 1.8 no problem.

I never tried 8Gb cause my other PC is a 24/7 that cannot stop, but I don't see why not.

Regarding my settings my Gigabyte is down till Friday for some upgrades but I will post them as soon as possible. These RAM are the best and won't need much to get stable at 1200 but 1300Mhz is another puzzle I'm still working.

Stasio anything on this vmch limitation (1.4v max) for 2x2Gb sticks using 2:40 strap?

Man this is my first Gigabyte board and I'm impressed how good you guys work on those BIOS updates! Amazing delivering big improvements since F4. An example to be followed by every single manufacturer out there.

Yeah amazing work on the bios, thats only cause so many people have this board, try using the ep45t-ud3p which i had its the ddr3 version, NO BIOS SUPPORT AT ALL. thats why i sold it, if you dont have a board that is really popular, you get no bios support, you wait months for a bios update.

    RAM overclocking only ( 4x 1GB Kingston HyperX PC9600 ram kits ).

    Booted from bios at 420fsb, bios set 3:5, DDR2-1400, 5-5-5-18-AUTO's, tRD 6,
VTT 1.34, NB 1.44, DIMM 2.36 (memtest with DOS progarm at VTT 1.30, NB 1.36, and DIMM 2.30)

ran a 4x SuperPi 8MB to test system memory and overall stability of the system just a little bit before i continue to overclock the ram kit higher.
also using ET6 and Memset programs to up vDimm to 2.44v and increase tRFC value.

then SetFSB to 445fsb and at DDR1484. and this was about the end of using tRD 6 and this voltage settings.
if i let the tRD value and rest of memory timings loose and use more volts in NB and at the dimms, this ram kits probably can go higher.

soory in advance if you feel there is no point in posting this overclock info on here.
and i would just like to add a word of warning anyway, doing this can damage your hardware or installed Windows.

    Just reread your above message.
i think GSkill do something like that on their kit that have EPP,
my 8800 PI's have 1.9v for DDR2-1066 while the ram kit is rated (from factory) to run 5-5-5-15 DDR2-1100 at (not more than) 1.9v,
the 8500 HK has a 2.35v for DDR2-1066 but i normally use less then 2.35v to run DDR1200. it's something like that.

so i assume and expected that your 9600 PI kit should run DDR1200 at least at 2.1v or below.,
this's the reason i requested you to check for me before. and thanks again for the info.

i don't see why you could not do that. q9650 and your memory at 600.

i like to think that i want a q9650 and the 9600 PI kit for myself, and as much as i want them but i'm a cheap person.
i will probably get some more UD3R's since it's a cheap and good board and i still have some of old DDR2's, CPU's, hard drives, PSUs and all, i never want to sell all these things anyway.

pangingII i hear you,im thinking of getting one of the UD3R's cause they are cheap and maybe i can get rev1.1.when i get get this maximusII rma thing straightend out i am definitly getting rid of it(sale it for sure)got a very sour taste in my mouth with this board now and asus.seems like the memory is pileing up now (lots of sticks)ive got an e8400,e8500,and soon Q9650.so now i have to weed through the parts and put together two full systems and sell the leftovers.

Here is 2:40 Strap 1.5v MCH Screenshot. It has worked with the only 2 bios i've tried. F7 Final and F8a Beta. I'll be glad to try an older bios if you'd like.

Not having a lot of luck...

    @ PangingIII,

I didn't have a lot of luck with the last settings. I was able to boot into windows with all of the BIOS settings, but upone restart I would get a BIOS error and have to try something else.

I did what you suggested by changing the MCH Ref Voltages up and down. All of my settings are below. The MCH Ref was the only value I changed for each trial. The values I tested are below.

Do you think I have a chip that is just limited? Thanks again for your help, and I am also learning a great deal about the board as well.

    Thanks Again,
    Jason
