Below pic is what is apparently hidden in GB bios, this pic from another poster is bios of intel x58 board. I think this explains why F3 bios is stable with turbo enabled with a lower Vcore than all F4beta bioses.
F3 bios apparently sets 1-core and 2-core ratio limit of 21 for i920 and 23 for i940, ie allows turbo for 1 and 2 cores loads. While 3 and 4 core ratio limits are stock or 20 i920 and 22 i940. All F4betas have 1-4 core ratio limit all set at turbo mode 21 for i920 and 23 for i940. For that reason to be stable in F4 beta bioses, you have to turn turbo off or use significantly more vcore than what you need for stable in F3. It may also be necessary to adjust TDP override as well.
I wonder if enough of us email GB, would they make this option accessible to us.

I just don't understand. it may just be me, but for me to get over 205, I need to raise Qpi/vtt to over 1.6V!!!
everyone else that is running 210+ is under 1.4V
My other settings are pretty similar.
Do I just have a bad board?
Max BCLK i tested was 220 but i dont tested the stability (1.235v QPI/VTT)
http://img381.imageshack.us/img381/7872/220tj8.jpg
i only run about 10 minuts prime small & Blend , then i stop the test!
but with te previous F3 bios for 4Ghz i needed to use 200x20 @ 1.344v and 3.8ghz @ 1.27v (200x19)
But now the new F4K bios Turbo Option always set multi x21 (not only in single app like F3 bios ) , and now i can run 4Ghz (191x21 @ Turbo) with 1.27v
and for 3.8Ghz with F4K bios i only need 1.20v (200x19)
http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/9391/3800120vev4.jpg
Try the new F4 bios (F4K for UD5 & F4J for Extreme) , now you can use Turbo Option always with Multi x21
regards

I'm not testing stability either. In fact, I haven't been able to get a stable 4.0+ setup yet using Prime95.
I'm just trying to boot up into windows at 210+. Like i mentioned, it required a ridiculous amount of QTi/VTT voltage.
Maybe I just have a bad board. I'm thinking of possibly getting another one.
Any recommendations? Maybe i just got unlucky with the chip.![]()
Hey all,
Keeping a good eye on this thread now

One thing I did notice (from the picture below) - If you're planning on using the Ultra 120, and "tall" ram you'll need to put the fan on the other side as it does overlap slot 1. There is enough room for regular ram, but Viper & Dominator isn't going to fit.

Hi guys. I have a x58 UD5 and Core I7 965. I am running stock. This is my first quad core proc and I am having some trouble with it.
When I boot into windows and look at it with CPU-ID 1.49, one one processor and 2 threads show. Does anyone know what is up with my comp?
Yes, my computer isn't using a fresh install. I carried over my install until I decide with SSD drive I want.
When I go into my device manager, I get "Intel Core I7 CPU 965 @ 3.2GHz" 8 times.

Is there any big difference between UD5 and Extreme ? Do u think i can reach BCLK 210+ with a UD5 for example ?

Gigabyte Z87X-OC, Haswell 4770K, 8GB Team Group 2666mhz, Asus HD7970
has anyone tried benchmarking their RAM past 2GHz
i cant seem to reach high MHz but this RAM is capable
everything else pretty much rocks with this board
its pretty efficienct, OCs like a mofo and performance is good, stable and all
btw i am yet to experience these cold boot startup problems that some were mentioning
got a link in the sig from testing notes etc
