    Project Black Tide

So I've been dreaming about this build for a while now and it's finally coming together. Most parts have been ordered and will be coming in mid next week (~Wednesday). Some miscellaneous modding parts will be ordered soon.

Due to money circumstances I wont be getting my awesome water setup. (yet)
And I had to cut a few corners on parts I really didn't need, as in no raid0 setup. (yet)
Although this build will still feature some really ingenious modding I haven't seen done yet. So stick around for that at least.

The parts list, as of now. Will be updated as things come in.
    Q9450 - Have
DFI LT X48 open box - Have
ASUS Xonar DX open box - Have
    Mushkin Redlines 2x2gb 1000mhz - Have
    Corsair 650TX - Have
2x Western Digital 500GB AAKS HDD - Have (one already waiting for the other for a raid 1)
Samsung SH-S203B Optical Drive - Have
    6x Yateloon D12SL - Have
    TRUE Black - Have
    Rocketfish - Have
Lian Li G75 Side panel - Have (will make since later and no it's not as obvious as you may think)
Plus any other random nick nacks I decide I need.

Eventually I'll be adding a 4870 to this as well.

Once the parts start to flow in I should have regular updates.

    Thanks!
Looks like everything is flowing in on Wednesday and Thursday.
And I'm scheduled to go up to my dads shop on Saturday to hack apart parts of the case.
Painting wont happen till after that obviously, it was late when I made the first post and thought it would make since to paint before cutting

So an update will come once the parts arrive and I can make measurements.

in other news John of Jab-Tech was awesome and fixed my mistake on my order.
I wanted 6 YL's and accidentally put 5. I thought I was screwed but a simple email to John and he said he'd toss another one in for me!
    I love shopping from him.

Okay got my order in from Jab -Tech.
I'm gonna go paint the parts of the case that aren't being hacked up, as it's really nice and I don want to miss my opportunity.
I'll have a large update or two by tonight

PS: Those Black TRUE's are gorgeous.
As most reviewer's have been saying, the camera doesn't quite capture the "blackness" of it. But I think I have a few that really show it off.
Looks to be anodized, I'm not 100% sure on that though. Also I have a flat base! Maybe TR have fixed their uneven issue?
    Pics will follow shortly.

I'm not looking to get record breaking clocks. Anything will be better than my 3.1ghz 5600+
Although I still think it's all in the BIOS's.

UPDATE 01! (Sorry in advance for the lack luster pics. I have bad florescent lighting, and it never plays well with my cheap camera)

    A box from Jab Tech?

    -A Black TRUE.
-3 sata cables (i must have been real tired when I made this order, I needed 4 )
-6 YL's, john gave me one for free as I had yet another mistake on my order. Luckly he tossed in an open corner. as I needed an open corner for the TRUE's mounting anyways. it's like he was psychic...
-Some fan molex crimps for when I rewire the fans
And whats that alien head shaped thing you ask?

Step aside Petra's magical colored pens.
Jab tech has colored led key chains!

And a teaser of the black TRUE in some of it's blackness, more will come of that. I can say I am 110% pleased with it, it was worth every cent in my opinion. I cant measure the performance against a normal TRUE but I didn't get it for that anyways. I got it for the aesthetics, and I am pleased. Is it worth the extra price tag? That's up to you, but I don't regret my order at all

    So what's next?
Well making sure my pictures come out good before I stop taking pictures.
So for that reason I will not post the pictures of my small painting extravaganza yet.

More parts come in tomorrow, and I'll make sure I have a decent camera for those. I'll probably retake some of these pics too.

Okay I just handed the top panel off to my dad to get set up for being lasered.
I wanted to keep the lian li feel so the top panel will have three of these patterns cut out for fans. Notice how they are spaced for a PA120.3 for future updates

(yes the image only has two cut out but there will be 3 on the final piece)

I'll have some more laser work layed out tomorrow when the mobo arrives, and then the extra side panel will make since

Ohhhhhhhh *drool* The black Thermalright looks gorgeous!
But i wonder. Why are your yateloon fans with a 4pin connector?
I only got one´s with 3pin fan connector.

They come with a 3 pin and a pass through 4pin. I plan on taking the 4 pin molex's off.
All though Not sure how I'm going to wire the fans together yet...

This case is big and awkward so I'm going to try something different with the airflow here's a diagram. blue fans are intake red are exhaust.
you can see my original lay out for water cooling, with 3 fans on top the front and back are intake and an addition one on the bottom for in take as well.

for air cooling I figured it might be more effective, to go a similar way too. as the fan in the front of the case hits the HDD's and video card long before it would get to the cpu. so now i have 2 exhausts, 2 intakes, and the other two fans on the TRUE. any comments on this?

Sorry guys this build will be put on hold for a while. At least mod wise. As all the parts have come in, and are up in running.

My 12 year old step sister, who had a heart transplant back when she was young, is going into rejection. Which means her body is fighting the heart.
Thus my dad will be taking some time off work while she is in the hospital. So no modding this weekend.

So until she is better this build will stay on hiatus.

    Thanks for the support guys!
My step sister is doing great, and she's being a little trooper. She's on more meds than she was before, but she's still kicking.
She has a busy schedule going to the hospital about everyday though.

In other news my girlfriend is unexpectedly coming back to Colorado for a week and half. I was just in NY with her (where she lives, and I'll be moving come the end of august).
So i'll be spending a fair bit of time with her.

The build is actually set up in my CM690 at the moment, and I'm actually glad I didn't go for the Water cooling. I may even go for a mid tower now (either the PC-7B, PC-A09, or the new PC-8B)

Got the Q9450 to 3.4Ghz with out an issue, and it loads at 50C running OCCT. Although I think I may have a bad mount as core 4 runs about 10C cooler at all times.
Core 3 is stuck, but core 1 and 2 are good for sure!
My old 5600+ loaded at low 60's and idled at low 40's in this heat, so I'm impressed
I'm gonna remount the TRUE tomorrow to see what I can get from it.
Still playing around with this new Intel stuff

I'll try and get some pics of the temporary setup tomorrow.
