Thanks for the comments Guys.
Project Update: The top Acrylic grill is done but I was hoping to get decent lighting to get pics that would do it justice. Sadly its overcast but rather than wait any longer, I figured I'd at least give you an idea of how it turned out.
I'm very happy with the result - it's a simple design but it performs the required function of allowing warm air to escape, in addition to permitting view down into the case. The added bonus is by allowing light to enter the case from the top, the innards have even more contrast and look wicked. Its a two piece kit; I designed a flange that gets attached to the inside of the case in the place of the black grill. Once the flange is in place, the grill simply drops in. It fits perfectly into the cutout. The idea of not fixing the grill to the flange was twofold - One; it allows you to remove the grill for cleaning - Two; it allows you to remove the grill to replace it with another design - using the same flange. I'll offer the murderMod TJ07 005 top grill to anyone who may want one (but please don't contact me about it yet). I should have inventory by the 1st week of July. News and info will be on my website. I hope this statement doesn't breach any forum rules and if it does, Mods please accept my apology and kindly edit as you see fit.
Ok, moving on - I started with the normal extruded Acrylic but wasn't happy with the edges. I then switched to cast Acrylic which is slightly more expensive, but the edges are much cleaner looking. I guess that's enough yacking and time to get with the posting of pics - I'm afraid to say that these pics don't do the thing justice. I promise to get better shots when the lighting improves. I just didn't want to make you guys wait any longer.
In other news - FC's build has come to a grinding halt because we're missing the IO shield. I know... I know...
Fried Chicken is looking feverishly for it but alas it may be a goner. If that's the case, we're in trouble. At some point I may need to reach out to you guys in the hopes that one of you have a spare IO shield for an eVGA 680i mobo. The reward will be eternal gratitude - and cash.![]()
