First time post
Hello everyone,
I've been lurking around and reading a lot of the incredible information from here and decided to post.
Due to some odd events, I recently picked up one of these ASUS P5K-E Wifi boards (rev 1.02 shipped w/0906 BIOS) from my local Fry's along with 2gb Crucial 6400, an E8400 (Batch 748) and a el-cheapo ATI card. (was low on funds due to the last minute purchasing.) I also have a cheap WC setup kit that was for my old P4-1.8ghz that I am now using on this setup.
I must say that I am quite impressed with this board and haven't had any issues yet. Although I am currently running stock settings as I am still trying to learn more about all the settings I will need to tweek should I OC.
I would like to OC the system soon though. Especially since even though the WC setup is a cheap kit, my CPU has not gone over 30c while running Prime95 large and idle is 27c. Granted this was also on stock settings and assuming that the readings from both the ASUS tool and Speedfan were correct.
I remember seeing a post about how to cofigure CoreTemp to adjust the tMax of the CPU. Anyone else remember this? As currently it shows a tMax of 105c when the E8400 I believe is supposed to be lower? Of course the reason for this is I would love to achieve a 4ghz 24/7 OC on this board and CPU.
So to sum up, my now current rig is:
P5K-E Wifi (Rev 1.02, Flashed to Bios 1004)
Intel E8400@3ghz (Q748) I'll edit with the full batch when I get home
2x1gb Crucial Ballistix 6400
PC Power&Cooling Silencer 750 quad
Diamond Radeon 3650, 512mb Video (crap card
)
And lastly an old Lian-Li full tower case and a el-cheapo Danger-Den WC kit.
I've got a lot to learn! So any further info or recomendations ya'll want to share is awesome!
