Dumb question...can the VID be found on the box label somewhere? Been thinking of maybe hitting a retailer and cherrypicking if the VID theory is true.

i need to update my sig, i have a abit ip35 pro.
yes its not fair your right. but i paid for the thing, and should exercise my right to return if i choose. But i dunno, might not be worth paying 29.00 ! through UPS, just to be dissapointed again.
iam stable at 3.480ghz now. 2 hours...i might just accept the fact, that i have a sick OC on a quad core, and not worry about 200mhz

how much better is the ultra-120 vs the ninja?

some more results. These are on a tuniq tower, stock fan. My ultra 120 extreme(lapped edition) should be here monday lol. my lapping skills are horrible, so i spent the extra bucks and had it pre lapped.
so far stable..this is about as far as i can go, i have to use a lil more VTT with this proc, on my 6600 @3.65ghz i could leave VTT nearly stock on this board..quad needs more i guess.
Orthos is set to large FFT's,2 cores. Prime 2 cores Blend

Before I can tell you whether it's "too" high of a temp or not, you might want to tell us what's the ambient temp in the room when you captured the screenshot and what kind of cooling are you using.3600 @ 1.45v (1.475 set in bios)
how are these temps looking?
Just by looking at your load temps without taking other factors in, I think it's a little high. When I had my G0 Q6600 OC'ed to 3600MHz stage with only roughly 1.39v, my load temp was only around 60~62C.
I just noticed that your G0 Q6600 VID is lower than mine (1.2625v), suppose your lower VID means better OC-ability at lower volts but seems not?? If you need 1.475v set in BIOS and 1.45v Load to get 3600MHz stable for a 1.2375 VID G0 Q6600, I don't think it's doing too good or it could be the mobo. It looks like your VID should be rather 1.3000v in relative to the settings you've.

well im running water cooling at the moment, my first setup, its petras elite kit.
the ambient temp in the room is about 26C
i was hoping this was a good OCer, i was able to boot and play games just fine and run benchmarks no problemt @ 1.4v, but crashed after about 20min of prime
i havn't really touched any of the motherboard voltages, only the cpu, any tips??

wow you should really need to take a look and do some extensive reading through your mobo's forum discussion topics to learn more about what each settings does. Asking questions randomly here is really hard to answer as each motherboard has its special characteristics that one have to test it out to find out
You've to know your motherboard really really well to make your CPU overclock shine.
My P5K-Dlx took me almost a month to complete familiarize with every settings it has and what exactly the setting will effect the OC-ability at certain point. Sometimes a change of one thing can mean a great difference.
Don't be afraid to test it out yourself if you've some basic knowledge.
Seriously, the best way to OC is by "trial and error" there's no better way even if one person as an exact duplicate hardware setup as yours

thanks a lot man for the quick responses, ill take a look and see if i can narrow down how to OC this thing a bit better, also if anyone can throw me some pointers, please do....this is my first intel chip so i guess im a newbie once again ( after having my opty 165 shine @ 2.8ghz with various tweaks of the bios)

You really need to play with some of the other voltages in order to achieve a better overclock.
Your CPU might be the best one around if the VID theory is true.
When you are in the bios, press F1 or CTL + F1 to see extra options.
Set your RAM Voltage and timings to those advertised by the manufacturer.
Up the FSB Voltage by +1 first and then by +2
Do the same for the NB Voltage.
Disable C1E, Speedstep, and anything spectrum / throttle related!
And prime95 crashing might not be a CPU voltage problem in your case, but the fact that you are not feeding the NB and FSB settings enough voltage.
Maybe after upping those 2, you'll be able to lower your CPU voltage?

Yes, small steps. For the FSB and NB voltages, you are looking to feed them about 1.4V each. I really don't know how the gigabyte will show you that, but you really need to @ least bring both up a notch or two!

I've got to spend some time reading this thread more fully,
but I'll ask anyway since I know this isn't the typical
OCing configuration so it may well not have been discussed
much.
Has anyone had any particularly good / bad experiences
in OCing a Q6600 G0 with a P35 chipset (e.g. P5K M/B)
using 4 sticks of double sided DDR2 DRAM (e.g. 8GBy)?
I'm just wondering how the extra memory sticks effect
the stability, timings, achievable overclocks, memory
bandwidth scores, etc. I'm sure it'll be a bit less OCable
than two sticks would be, but hopefully not that much
less in frequency and maybe it'd more than make up
for it in memory latency / bandwidth if the system
uses bank-interleave over the dual-dual-channels of
double-bank memory...
Using 4 sticks will surelly affect you mem overclock, but not your cpu overclock...
hows this... i increased the voltage +0.15 on the FSB ... looking good so far on 1.4v
i hope +.15 is fine for 24/7 use, i posted it on the gigabyte thread to confirm or dismiss
