No doubt a remarkable coincidence that both products look alarmingly similar, right down to the barb placements.

Oh I wasn't claiming to have made something revolutionary, I liked the aquatube and the alphacool reservoirs and mine is copied after those, no secret about it. All i wanted was one that was NOT aluminum.

I would wager to stay that Nik is as to XS as are the others that we look to for answers, he just is not in the Lime (no Pun toward the cube) light of XS known figure heads, it seems to me that he tries to keep his head down.

Hey Nik did you get a PM I sent you like last week about a Qcore?

What I think is the best part of this forum is the fact that most don't go on the hype that manufactures put out and trust the numbers that independent testers put out using real science, and when misleading or downright false information is released (IE the recent Koolance tests) someone here takes the time to recheck the math.

Nope..a WASP if ever there was one..White Anglo-Saxon Protestant.
Family came here on the Mayflower, direct ancestors founded the city of Salem,Mass( Roger and Lot Conant) and family has been in New England ever since. One of the great benefits of this forum is this "New Englander" gets to meet people from all over the world.

Yep, XS has changed somewhat, I feel there is some truth in what you say and in some respects XS has become a victim of its own success.

I've been watercooling for enly nearly three years. I don't actively post here (infact I've only just started posting again on XS after a long hiatus) in the WC section but I do read it a lot and generally find most of my questions answered without having to post (yep, the search function rules!). The maths and science stuff generally goes over my head, but I feel I know/have learned enough to get by quite well).

Its also good to read the information posted by the experts who frequent this part of the forum, regardless of whom they may be, as I always respect knowledge.

To sum up my little ramble, the WC section is a pretty good read!

I forget exactly what brought me to XS. I was searching for something via google and saw a picture of someone using LN2 on a benching setup and was like WTF? I'd been building systems for years, but I started reading toms hardware and anandtech awhile ago, and then transfered over to XS. The knowledge here is significantly better than other places, and the community is generally pleasant. The willingness to help out people to build a water cooling setup makes things much smoother and can save people time and money, all while having a solid performing system. It's why I post questions here as I plan my setup rather than Toms or Anandtech or wherever else. A lot of pros, I must say. If we can remove the flame wars and the deaded word "fanboy" from the forum, it'd be about as good as it could get!

Probably already been said, but +1 on really getting into the why's and what's of equipment, along with a more cutting edge and top-end bent to what is being discussed. I think of XS as maybe like a Porsche forum and the others as something like a Toyota forum.

Very true of this forum and most others out there, which has hurt the water cooling community as a whole. It is great to see that opinion changing as of late. The best thing to happen is people understand the TRUE trade offs when differing from "the norm". To me "the norm" is boring too and doesn't help drive creativity.

Doesn't mean other solutions don't work too. Given the recent revelations maybe better than most people wanted to beleive.

A person who is satisfied with his investment will most likely drive creativity by helping to sustain the WC'ing economy with future investments. A disgruntled participant who feels misled if not cheated due to bad advice will most likely not feel inclined to participate in the future, hurting the WC'ing economy without their cash flow.

To be different for the sake of being different is one thing. To recommend someone to be different for the sake of being different is childish at best and unethical at the worst, especially when they come here to seek advice. There's a reason why this water cooling forum flourishes while others see little to no activity and are regarded as backwards, this forum provides solid advice with backed up results and focuses on the objective.

The only new revelation is that dropping down from 1/2"ID to 3/8" tubing does not introduce a temp hit of higher than .01C. It does not mean that sub par pumps, nor inefficient water block designs, nor shoddy components can also be used to achieve comparable results to products that are the performance or price/performance leaders in their area. I hope that's not what you're inferring.

There will always be many solutions to a problem. However, it may not be the most cost effective nor the most efficient. This forum is awesome because it recommends the most efficient and/or the most cost effective solutions, not because it chooses to go against the spirit for the sake of "being different". People can count on XS to provide solid advice.

I don't go to a mechanic to expect him to give me advice on how to make a Camry look different. I expect him to give me advice on what's the most efficient and cost effective method on making something work.

Nor does going from 6mm to 1/2" mean more than .44c, which is far better than anyone here would have thought; minus the users that actually tried. Now that the community has accepted this data we should see much more creative ways of cooling computers without entire forums getting turned upside down, which is a GREAT thing. Basically "the norm" is changing. This is great because the end users will benefit from this.

I don't see a point in this post. Changing the size of one's tubing doesn't really make anything more creative nor does it induce any sort of seismic change. It gave people the peace of mind of knowing that even in their quest of performance, they won't be sacrificing much to drop down from 1/2" ID to 3/8" ID. That's it. And yes, the end user does benefit in this specific instance since it gives him more options towards the same initial goal rather than changing the goal as you're suggesting in your previous post: "to be different".

I'm beginning to believe that you have stock in Swiftech (RCHN) with the way you keep going on about this. Creativity in the water cooling field came from individuals that did this kind of stuff in their garage. In many cases it still is the little guys that make the changes today. Why would you care if someone invests in a product or not?

You're once again trying to spin this thread off topic. Creativity is encouraged at XS more so than any other forum. That's why you see things like hard line copper pipe builds here in XS, that's why you see people create their own blocks here more so here than most other forums put together. You'll see people who can't afford MM cases go out and build one that's even better and more Xtreme. THAT is what XS is about: Performance and Creativity

Creativity and originality stems from the user creating his own stuff and proudly displaying it. Creativity is not about misleading people to purchase different lines of products for the sake of being different nor using different products for the sake of being different as was mentioned by two different posters in this thread.

So how about you stop your your usual flame baiting spin tactics and NOT hijack this thread.
