Mk, lets begin...
I haven't been here on these forums very long, but I've been an enthusiast/hobbyist for quite a while now. I browsed her for a bit before I decided to join and contribute to the knowledge/experience base here. And there are some here with plenty to give. I've even stated it in a few of my posts.
However, I've noticed a very low tolerance for anything that isn't reccomended by the few knowledgeable people here or what brand has a presence on these forums (D-tek, Swiftec, Thermochill, Ek). Take a look at a "I need help with a new watercooling build" thread one day, EVERYONE reccomends the EXACT SAME THING for ANY build, regardless of the type of requests made.
Take a look at the galleries one day. The builds might as well be carbon cpies of each other. It is UTTERLY boring. I know what the build has in it before I see the pictures. There's no personality other than what the concensus is. There isn't an individual among you.
"Welcome to the club, now buy a D-Tek FuZion CPU block, a Thermochill radiator, use 100% distilled water, use nothing less than 7/16" tubing, and an EK block for your 8800 so we won't flame you =D"
Ugh, how boring.
Am I saying the parts reccomended are bad? NO. Am I saying there should be more bling to people's reccomendations and builds? Don't even try it. What I am saying is that I seriously doubt if everyone on these forums reccomending these parts on a daily basis have tried every single performance part on the market to reccomend only what I stated above.
If I were a n00b and was coming to these forums without any other knowledge whatsoever, I would have NEVER heard of companies like Innovatek, Alpha Cool, Aqua Computer, Flow, MIPS, XSPC, Silverprop, AquaExtreme....and quite a few more.
Its just as bad as everyone at [H] recommending Velocity Micro for anyone looking for a prebuilt a while back. Those here that are familiar with [H] knows what I'm talking about.
All I'm saying is that I'd like to see an expansion of knowledge and open-mindedness about liquid cooling on these forums, and other forums as well. Its more of the same where ever you go, just differing opions on what is best.
I know many will take it personal and will think of this as a flame attack, but its simply an honest opinion, answering the OP (of whom I think started this because of my other thread). Maybe a few of you can actually accept what I'm saying and see things from the outside.
