Remeber, AMD has a much larger power envelope to play with than Nvidia did. Based on that fact alone, I think AMD has the potential to put out an overall more powerful card, even if it's not the tessellation monster that the GTX 480/580 is.

We'll wait and see. I'm glad Nvidia has already launched the GTX 580, but honestly, there's no reason to buy it yet. We still don't know what AMD has cooking with the 6970.
