To get PL8 you set all 4 TRD phase adjustments to 1 on each memory channel while changing nothing else, correct?

Testing now, but I've not noticed any improvement over FD yet.
Any idea what the "fix VRM10 CPU problems" means?

I am having troubles with my board. I am experience intermittent issues where if the power goes out or the PSU is turned off, the lan ports will stop working and it's a hassle to get them to work again (I have to clear the bios and power down for a few minutes) It's not the CMOS battery being dead or anything as my settings are not getting erased.

This guy has the same issue as I do:
    http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1498992

Also, does your guys' energy saver look like this? I don't have any voltage level adjustments.

The 6 power phase "pistons" are always on and none of them ever switch off.

Finally, I have an issue where my board stopped reducing voltage when it downclocks the CPU with C1E/EIST/Speedstep. I am sure all those options are on the bios. When I first purchased this board, it would drop my core voltage quite a bit (I can't remember exactly what it was). IE: something like 1.344v to 1.02v, etc. whenever it downclocked the core clock of my OC from 3.4GHz to 2.268GHz (9x378 vs. 6x378).

Now I find that it nolonger does this. The voltage is always @ 1.344v and never drops, consequently, even if C1E/EIST/Speedste reduces my clocks, I get no voltage reduction and hotter temps overall!

I have tried clearing the bios, all the bios versions (except the Bios FEa beta quoted), and everything I can think of. I don't know what could be causing this. The core clock definetely drops as the multiplier goes to 6x but it will not reduce voltage anymore when it used to. I monitor clocks and voltage through CPU-Z. I have also tried "Minimal Power Management" and "Portable/Laptop" in power schemes to see if they do anything but they don't.

I was hoping the energy saver would do something else on the side to drop voltage but as you can see, it's always on max as well.

I would uninstall the energy saver stuff, re-flash bios and load cmos optimised defaults. After booting my guess is it will work fine. The DES doesn't really do anything at all except save a tiny bit of energy, yet it switches the mobo's VRM lights on, and for the resources it uses it probably cancels out the energy saving features imo.

Not certain it'll help, but you could try ensuring quickboot is turned off in bios. Perhaps it's not properly POSTing or initialising parts of the board. I know it causes issues with the experience index. I don't actually use the LAN ports (yet) so can't really suggest anything else. Best of luck!

Hmm, I've uninstalled the energy saver, reflashed the bios a few times, loaded optimized defaults, etc. and the problems still persist. I think it's a bug or faulty board as another person has the same problems I have with the lan ports. I have rev. 1.6. They will just die and Windows will tell me there was an error intializing them and installing/uninstalling them with multiple reboots will have no effect.

Regarding the power issues, I am absolutely certain it used to drop voltage with C1E but it stopped all of a sudden 2 months ago and all my attempts to figure out why have been frustrated.

With the energy saver and the VRM lights, you probably don't know that if you press that green button on the bottom right, it turns off the VRM ligths on the mobo. That said, a bunch of LEDs on the mobo consumes practically no power at all.

The only other thing I can suggest is to try powering up without a CPU / memory in there see if that helps, it's helped me on ASUS board but probably different on these. I trust you've tried removing the battery too?

*edit - just found out that the USB3 model will not be available in Europe, and the UD5 is 'discontinued' - it had nothing to continue from did it?

Just installed my GA-EP45-UD3P. I get the all clear single beep. None of my keyboards delete keys work. My screen loads the Gigabyte Default screen with the Ultra Durable 3 logo and command keys to mess with the bios and Q-flash.

What's going on? Has anyone ever encountered this problem?

my logitech g15 keyboard with USB cable connection doesn't work before logging to windows so i have an extra backup one with the old rounded cable just in case.

I had a problem today, I tried going with my q9550 from 3.8 (450 fsb) to 3961 (466 fsb) and it worked.

but the fan seemed to work at full speed right from boot. here seems to have the same problem but didn't get how he solved it!

So digging around the bios and I find a setting for CPU fan control. It's set to AUTO which means BIOS controls fan speed. This is probably why it kicks in full speed at 450+FSB. Changed it to vary fan speed based on temp (other options were voltage and pwm) and now it starts off on low and ramps up during load. Sweet.
thier is no "vary fan speed based on temp" option
    suggestions?

I have 3 keyboards hooked up, 2 are USB and one is the purple cable. All get the same response. The drives are F'3s instead of the old F1's I gave away. I divorced and reformatted them using the Intel program for RAID. I may need to re-format the drives or loosen the screws on my Thremalright Ultra 120. I used the weakest tightening torque on my power drill. I may manually loosen the screws. This worked for my dad's machine. He gets my P35 board.

Based on my instruction manual, one beep means all good but handing on the Gigabyte default screen is just very unusual. I've built 2 other computers (still running) with Gigabyte boards. I think Gigabyte has the most stable and best overclocking boards. I just wanted a P45 to see how far I could push my Q6600. I eventually want a 9550 if the price comes down.

Thank you for your feedback. Keep it coming and I will update on any success or failures I have...

Set your CPU ref to auto. And try a 50 or 100 skew on the MCH.
Maybe put your ICH on auto as well.

I have now owned my EP45-UD3P for a year and three months. And I'm still gosh-darn happy with this board.

Since I've owned it, I've gone from three individual drives, to two drives in RAID-1, to three drives in RAID-5. I've gone from a Q6600 G0 to a Q9450 C1. I've gone from a Radeon 4850 to a 4890, and added another pair of RAM to match the first pair. And now, recently bumped my Q9450 to QX9770 speeds., with Vcore still set to Auto (I've tweaked the memory settings a little, but mainly because I want the timings to match what I want rather than what the board does on Auto). And it's been rock solid the whole time.

I plan on owning this board at least one more year, and probably two. It's too good of a board for me to get rid of, both for performance and stability. If it had right-angle SATA connectors, it'd go from 99% perfect to 100%, but I can't have everything.

One note: I recently was reading NewEgg's reviews --it seems like the rev. 1.6 users have had more troubles with their boards than the Rev. 1 and 1.1 users (I believe mine's a 1.1). Any truth to this?

    Big congrats Andressergio

Another nice little surprise is that bios FE is out already for 1.6 boards
Changelog says 'improved memory compatibility' - will give it a shot tonight.

I actually sent a mail to gigabyte 3-4 days ago to ask if the bios memory compatibility updates for the 1.0/1.1 boards also applied to the 1.6 - perhaps this is what they came up with or maybe it's just a coincidence. (perhaps it'll be a nice consolation for no USB3 in europe)

p.s. @ lonewolf - it appears some may be having issues, and I admit that my board has some quirks but I've benched a lot higher than I expected with my 1.6. The FEa bios did have 'fix CPU VRM10 problems' so perhaps there is a niggle thats causing issues but I don't think it's affected me a great deal.

I'm in the dark here since trying 500x8.5 on my UD3P ver.1.1 with Q9550 and pair of OCZ Reaper PC29200 4gb kit with no luck. Prime95 hangs wtihin 5 approx. 5 minutes. But below 500x8.5, those combo works like a charm.

Here's my dailiy highest clock, 495x8.5, Prime95 stable (sorry for the tiny screenshoot)

What should I do for the reach of 500x8.5 up?
