Hi everybody. I'm new on this forum. Really glad I found it too. I just finished a new build with an Core I7 920 D0 CPU and the Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Motherboard with Bios F9e. It all water cooled too. My full specs are in my sig.

Although I managed to get a stable 4.2Ghz (Turbo boost enabled), I am floored by the voltage requirements I had to set as well as the Idle and Full load temperatures that I'm getting. I was hoping you guys could give me some assistance.

Here are my Bios settings:

Because I am new to the Core I7 and X58 platform, I used this guide from Gigabyte

Notice how high he sets the voltages for the Vcore and QPI/VTT !
Well, to get a stable 4.2 GHZ so did I apparently. I tried lower voltages but would get BSOD withing 2 minutes of ORTHOS. I can get a stable 4Ghz at 1.4V with Turbo Boost disabled.

Now here's where I get freaked out. While running Orthos (one instance for each core, 2 threads per instances) at 4.2 GHZ and the above mentioned 1.5V , my core temps jump as high as 79C!!!! That's on freakin' water! Is this normal? And my idle temps again at 1.5 are between 42C and 46C.
With Turbo boost disabled, a vcore of 1.4 my temps idle between 37C and 41C and can reach 71C during Orthos.

This is my third watercooled build and I'm fairly sure that the CPU block is properly seated. I mean it's hard to install the Swiftech GTZ poorly. Could it be the Radiator not performing to specs? On my previous build I had a quad 120mm rad, cooling an OCed E8600 to 4.5 Ghz and a Radeon 4870X2 and my temps idled in the 24C to 28C range and never went above 62 at full load. That's what I'm used to seeing.

Also, I'm confused as to why CPUZ reports a Core Voltage of 1.392 even thought I set it to 1.5V.

Anyway, sorry for the lengthy post. If anyone on here could put in their 2 cents I'd much appreciate it.

Thank you very much.
