Why do you use 1.56 voltage for the rams ? also when you up the Bclock , ram speed goes up to.. Why not try to relax your ram timings to eg 7-7-7-24 TRFC 88. Set your ram speed yourself and uncore speed to twice the ram speed. For the Link speed set lowest voltage above AUTO
Also 1639 bios dunno bout that, I'm still on 1504 and prett happy camper with that

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved
Remark : They call me Pro AsusSaaya yupp, I agree

Do a 20 run of Linx and monitor temp using both Core Temp and Real Temp and take a screen shot after the bench so we can try to determine what needs to be done.![]()

Trying to keep lowest possible....using CPU Level Up feature sets to that figure, so I left it there until I got a failure....turning up from 1.56 does nothing, turning down fails.
Have done that....gives same results....I set it to auto, reboot and then look in BIOS and what Auto sets it at ....always comes up with same number as when i do manually.Set your ram speed yourself and uncore speed to twice the ram speed.
Any speeds below what I have listed fail. Again , used CPU level Up feature to see what MoBos choice was.....then try lowering until I hit fail point. For the Link speed set lowest voltage above AUTO
1539 helped me get a few clicks higher as well as eliminated most of my event viewer errors. Also 1639 bios dunno bout that, I'm still on 1504 and prett happy camper with that
Was holding off on that as yet....always wondered how one goes about selecting relaxed timings....i.e. 6-7-6-18 .... why 7-7-7-24, not 7-8-7-21Why not try to relax your ram timings to eg 7-7-7-24 TRFC88
the TRF88 is new to me....can you elaborate ?
I was expecting that some BIOS settinsg with which I am unfamiliar would come into play. For example I notice that some peeps disable some of the following:
Intel (R) Virtualization Tech
CPU TM Function
CPU Spread Spectrum
PCIE Spectrum
CPU Clock Skew
IOH Clock Skew
So if I have copied everything correctly, my changes are:
C1E Support [Disabled]
CPU TM Function [Disabled] Gonna leave this enabled see explanation below
CPU Voltage 1.3
QPI/DRAM Core Voltage 1.3
IOH Voltage (NB) 1.13
DRAM Bus Voltage 1.64xx
CPU spread spectrum -[Disabled]
PCIE spectrum - [Disabled]
OK I made all the changes....except didn't disable TM function.....this is my son's box (18 years old) and didn't wanna leave him that vulnerable to his own inattention

So what's your conclusion ? Voltage wise you need more Vcore and more Dram voltage ? And maybe looser ram timings to get higher ram speeds ? Testing LinX for 5 mins isn't proof of stability.... It needs to be set at max memory and try at least 10 loops.. Also test Hyperpi 32mb 8 threads.. if all that passes then you are well on your way. I would use ya rigs at 4-4.2 is a nice combo of speed/low voltages and lower temps...

Is Turbo disabled? As for TM function, as long as you have the "Extreme overclock" set to disable, then you wont be getting into any thermal problems on a normal day to day use even if your son plays 24/7.JackNaylorPE

Looks like this is your sweet spot for 4.0. You may now try lowering your QPI/DRam voltage.3rd run @ 1.236 BIOS setting for CPU Voltage
CPU-z says 4009 MHz @ 200.5 Bus Speed, 3608.3 QPI Link @ 1.232 CPU volts

coretemp says max temps were 72/68/67/66

I bet, you can still run this stable on a fair bit lower voltage, and, for me, this is as far as I would go for a normal day to day use. Anything higher is simply overkill, unless, of course, your using your rig for heavy encoding and or audio/video editing.1st run @ 1.30 BIOS setting for CPU Voltage
CPU-z says 4209.6 MHz @ 200.5 Bus Speed, 3608.3 QPI Link @ 1.288 CPU volts

Temp scrennie while running either Linx/IBT/OCCT or Prime95 will be appreciated. By the way, how did feel now that you have finally made it to the 4.xx OC guild?
... and yes, you need to do at least 20-25 runs for either LinX or IBT at max memory and at least 12 hours for either OCCT and Prime 95 small FFT's and Blend to find out maximum heat output and memory stability.
As i recall it disappears after you disable speed step.
Anything to be gained by it ?As for TM function, as long as you have the "Extreme overclock" set to disable, then you wont be getting into any thermal problems on a normal day to day use even if your son plays 24/7.

next lower one (1.275) failed.I bet, you can still run this stable on a fair bit lower voltage,
i remembered to do that after fiddlin around in firefox for a while bit KB disappeared.....had to reboot. Plus I need son around to do the image shack thing.....what OC setting would you like screenied ?Temp scrennie while running either Linx/IBT/OCCT or Prime95 will be appreciated.
Well broke the cherry w/ HT disabled.....but was kinda nice to get in w/o doing that.....not that I can think of something he'll use which needs HT so will probably use the 3.7 setting for 24/365 and the HT disabled 4.3 Ghz one for extreme gaming or whatever.By the way, how did feel now that you have finally made it to the 4.xx OC guild?![]()
yes, what I have been doing so far is run Linx till I fail....then take that highest OC setting that didn't and run OCCT.....if that passes, run P95 for 8 hours.... and yes, you need to do at least 20-25 runs for either LinX or IBT at max memory and at least 12 hours for either OCCT and Prime 95 small FFT's and Blend to find out maximum heat output and memory stability.
Do you know of any source that better explains what the various "disabled' or modified (i.e. differential amplitude) settings do ?

any body tried turbo key with this board
It don't want to work with me if I want to OC from 2.66 to 4.00 ( it hangs )
Core i7 920 @ 4.00ghz :: 12 Gb OCZ Extreme 1600 :: Rampage Extreme II :: Asus 4870 1 Gb :: 2*150Gb WD VelociRaptor Raid 0, 750 Gb WD Caviar black :: Swiftech GTZ :: EK chipset and Mosfet Blocks :: Swiftech radiators 220 and 320 :: MCP 655 pump :: Feser VS.C heat carrier
If you want Turbo, just leave your CPU ratio on "Auto".
That sounds perfectly logical.
1 hour Prime ~ 1 min Linx
12 hours prime ~ 12 min Linx
I do get hotter CPU temps with prime than I do with Linx or OCCT.
Tho shuda said ...run p95 till it does 12 hours or it fails. I haven't had anything (yet) pass OCCT and not P95. I figure if I can get past all 3, that's better than getting past just 1.

Hello my friends.I have just set up a system with the following specs:
i7 920 d0 , R2E , Dominator gt 6gb 1866 7 8 7 20 , 1050 w psu, wc custom with armor+lcs case. and 5870 sapphire vapor-x.
I overclock it a liitle and i ve got 4ghz i think easy.My temp from everest in full load says 68c with 1.28v.Because i am new in here can you give me a set up for better performance with my mems and all the other things to set iti in my bios 1639.
Please give me if you want optimum option for 4ghz and 4.2ghz or other if you have a better idea.
Thanks a lot
OK, I now know what's limiting me to only 210 Bclk on my R2E !!!!
It's the God damnty R2E that I have, I used the same system on a P6TSE and straight forward I'm able to boot with up to 220Bclk !!!!
I haven't tried more but that should give an indication, now that My R2E is dead due to a broken pin in socket, I should look some where else to couple it with my new 950 CPU.
