Anybody else using 8gb ram? I am having a hell of a time getting my 9650 past 3.8 stable on air. I am using 1.42v (!!!) and I have messed with a lot of timings...I am using 2x fan lapped true lapped chip 900 with 2 extra fans, 6 disk raid 0 and 850w psu. Anyone have an ide? My idle temps at 3800 are ~35/40, load temps 57/62, ram running at 1140, but I can't get the chip past 475 fsb...

I'm using gskill 8GBPI...I have Q9650 at 1.374v and the ram is at 1.9v. I am just usnig 8x475. I would like to drop down to 7x with a high FSB and a divider but even when I switch ratios the fsb will just not stabilize even up to 1.43 volts. I have tried messing with mch, pll, all kinds of settings, nothing seems to work...
Anyone using the GA-EP45T-UD3R/P should get this kit if you're having trouble with your current kit ! (this might've been said already...)

They use D9JMN IC's and overclock really well with my board. Got them stable at 1800 CAS8 with 1.8v. Still yet to try for more... going to wait until i get some heatsinks for them.

Thx Oztopher : kit's that absolutely do not work are my Diablo Micron GTR rams, no way to go over 1600mhz stable... with the EP45T UD3LR...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved
Remark : They call me Pro AsusSaaya yupp, I agree
Yeah it seems the D9GTR's don't work well at all, and need alot more voltage to keep them stable (not sure what other sticks don't work well, but im guessing D9GTS?).
But seriously, this kit im using now is excellent, can't believe they were only £56I also booted 1900MHz CAS 8 with 1.9v, it would probably be stable as i was able to boot into windows with a minimum of 1.8v. Couldn't even boot 2000MHz, as im finding it hard to get 500FSB on my Q6600 ! *eyes up a Q9650*
EDIT:
Oh, and i found the straps acted weird. At 400x9, with the 333 strap, i needed 1.9v to even boot 1600MHz on the RAM. But if i used the 266 strap i could get it to post with 1.5v ! It just needed abit of MCH voltage as it's quite a 'tight' strap. But at 450FSB+, the 333 strap works like a charm, thats the one im using now for 1800MHz w/ 1.8v. It was the same for most of the BIOS versions i tried.
This kit only really likes CAS 8. I could only get 1600MHz and lower stable with CAS 7.

@Lee, I could really use one of your BIOS templates for that E7400 chip of yours at 500 FSB. I'm having a hard time with Prime95 stable after 3-4 hours. System crashes either at 320k or 640k in Blend, and at 48k or 64k in Small. I think it's my Ref's that are giving me trouble. Not sure if the E7x00 Duals require the same treatment as the E8x00 Duals do, especially on a DDR3 board.

For some reason I can't get the item I select in the boot menu to boot. I mean the menu you get when you hit esc or whatever it is during the POST. I will select my USB drive, hit enter and it just boots from whatever is selected as the first boot device in the BIOS. Any ideas?
Have you changed "Harddisk boot priority" as well as "First Boot Device" to the drive you want to boot from?

It boots from whatever I tell it to in the BIOS. That's not the issue. The problem is that if I want to install from a USB drive or boot it into DOS I can't do so by changing the boot menu via hitting f12 which is available during the post. Whatever I select there isn't respected and the drive which is selected in the BIOS ends up being used.
I'm usin 8gb Pi 9600's and cant get them stable at 1100+. 1:1 for 8gb i think is all we can do at high FSB. I've tried everything, even a new board. No go with dividers and 8gb for me. 4gb i'm good at 1250+. To me not using a page file and 8gb 1:1 feels better than 4gb @1200+. I have real good cooling on NB and RAM.. I've just learned to live with the 1:1. I know i know just something about 8gb at 1200 is sexy...oh well. Anybody else using 8gb successfully at high fsb? Pleease chime in....

For 400Mhz ? are you insane ? 1.3ish will do for sure... he prolly needs more Vcore and CPU VTT volts to stabilise it... I'll pop in the E7400 again Bluestang... currently testing a Q9550 on it... ( Thx Tones.be ) maxing at 475ish with acceptable volts... not bad for such a cheap mobo ( EP45T UD3LR) but my Micron GTR rams don't play along at all![]()

does anyone have a link to bios templates
and maybe something explaining MCH Ref , CPU ref values.
this board is quite nice, havent had much time to play with it, but had the FSB up to 475, but had a reboot loop several times. I pulled the battery, and ended up getting distracted with some other stuff i need to do. Will get more time tomorrow night to toy around. I did read some people had problems with FB bios. I think i have Fb or F8..i forget now. The board is rev 1.6 though, bios is dated May 2009.
this thread is huge..it will take me a month to dig through it all
OH its the UD3P btw

What's the best RAM to run 8GB on this board and still be able to overclock? I've been wanting to lose my page file for awhile, but none of my RAM will overclock very well. I'm also not made of money, so I can't run out and blow $400 on RAM.

anybody with rev 1.6 try the FDa bios? opinions?
and i thought i was cool getting rev 1.6
but here is the change lol
"Aside from featuring the new Smart 6 system management utilities package, this model remains unchanged, which is totally fine with us. The EP45-UD3P is one of the best P45 motherboards on the market and it has been continously acclaimed for its overclocking capabilities

I had UD3P rev1.1, now i have rev.1.6. Using with last Beta BIOS FDa about 2 weeks, since i've got the board. 500x8 with my Q9650. Great stable and i find rev. i.6 much stable with less voltages, but need more MCH_REF and CPU_REF than rev.1.1. BTW it has one new feature - "Quick Boot" and it's booting very quickly.Great board so far for 24/7 quad OC. Only 1.28V VMCH for 500mHz Prime and Linpack stable with 4 sticks memory. I think it has some minor changes, because my Win7 installed on rev 1.1 find some new hardware.

how do you adjust the damn GTLREF on this board? I dont see it in bios![]()
