I guess they create an alcohol with it which is nontoxic. They use it in the food industry. Especially for the production of ice cream. It has the special characteristic of causing the formation of smaller ice crystals. That would be beneficial to me, since I'm thinking of running a slurry through my system. Slurry, as in kind of like the consistency of a milk shake. But in any case, I'm looking for fluids that will support much lower freezing points.
