Donīt give up on your EP45 for a EP45T, you probably gonna struggle to get pass 1800MHz if you plan to go for 2Gb sticks maybe get higher with Elpida low volt sticks (those that are made for i7) but not for sure.

Probably better to get some 2x2 DDR2 low volt Blade to your EP45, FSB 450 or 500 with ram @ 1200 CAS5 is hard to beat even for DDR3.

yea your probably right, but i just want to try ddr3 or more like i need to(damn hardware addiction)

i decided to tighten up some ram timings for my 9x500@4500 ddr1200 pl8
and did this this morning.i have to admit this is a great setup

DemonEyez, have tried leaving the strap on auto and setting 2.40B,that worked for me with my 9650
i had the same problem if i set 333strap and set 2.40B no boot.but leaving strap on auto and set 2.40B worked.
also i needed 1.46v mch to 1.50mch and i just looked at jor's 4500 template and he also used 1.50v mch

@radaja...nice! I am so jealous. I need to post my BIOS template to see if you can get me some help to get to 4500 (9x500). My ram can do 1200 PL8 5-5-5-15 @ 2.24V with 8 and 8.5 x 500, but I just can't seem to boot into XP successfully with 9x500. What's the key to go from 8 or 8.5 x 500 to 9 x 500fsb...is it just a vCore thing ?? Or more VTT, PLL or MCH ???

    thank you.
for me its a vcore thing.but i havent really tried to tweak all my voltages down.since ive had this new cpu i started with these basic settings.
    pll 1.57
    vtt 1.26- 1.28
cpu ref 0.76 normal set in bios
    mch 1.36- 1.38
mch ref with vtt of 1.20 ref is 0.70
vdimm 2.10- 2.20 depending on fsb
all other voltages are set to normal in bios

so with vtt and mch i just stayed in those ranges
and vcore goes up and down depending on what clock.

its driving me nuts that i can do 4500 w/1.31v
but when i try 4600 it fail small fft's with 1.34v and 1.36v
it's looking like it will need 1.37v.but im going to keep trying to get 4600
    with 1.36v

I have looked through this thread a bit to no avail... Does anyone have/know of any cookie cutter settings for a Q9650 at 4.5Ghz?

    Here are my questions:

    1. Where is the Performance Level (PL) on setting in this bios? is it on each channel, the first option?
    2. What is the max you would go for benching on the NB(MCH) volts? 24/7? Mind you this is only with AS5 applied to the chip passively cooled by the case for now. I can strap a 40mm to it if need be....

Thank you all. Looking to bench at 4.5Ghz+ and know this is the board to do it!

Maybe I'll give your setting a try. Although I know I'll need more vCore than you! And probably more MCH than I am running now (1.30v). Thanks!!

this thread has some on the first page.
**OFFICIAL Gigabyte UD3 P45 Yorkfield (45nm Quads) OC and Discussion Thread**

ill keep looking for templates but
here are a couple to start with. EDIT- added some more

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...8&postcount=96

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=2835

the Performance level is on each channel yes.its called "Static tRead Value"

if you can strap the 40mm fan to NB(active cooling)you
should be ok anywhere from 1.38v mch to 1.50v mch.
with my Q9650 ive gone as high as 1.50v mch

a couple of these are 4400 but they are good starting points.
    good luck

bluestangyou never know with this " And probably more MCH than I am running now (1.30v) "
i know it can be done with v mch between 1.30 and 1.38.so see what happens.

Ive used it once before with a Q8300, Im just used to a P5Q Dx. And believe it or not I did get 500mhz FSB (4.5Ghz on Q9650) benchable WITHOUT 1200Mhz ram! But this board will go over that which is what I am looking to do.

Oh what bios should I use btw? Any modded bios out for this that would be better?

I should have some numbers by Sunday night. She has been broken down and AS5ified where I could (NB/SB), and she will be installed tonight or tomorrow Im hoping. Im looking to clean up my wires and Im on water and trying to NOT have to break down the loop to install the mobo, so this install could take some time.

THing is, at least on the P5Q, this Q9650 needed almost 1.5v to get to 4.5Ghz. Good thing Im on water ehh?

yep thats good your on water.as for bios's i think there was only one modded one which was done
by hiccookie,it was F4Pi modded for the E8600 for super Pi 1m.
do you have the UD3P or UD3R?
i found F4 to be best with my Q9650 and UD3P.i've only tried F6 and F9 for my UD3R.
but they all behave pretty much the same for the most part,so try the one thats on your board now
    and see how it goes.
also i found that my E8500 needed less vcore with my UD3P than it did on my Asus MIIF.so you never
    know,maybe you'll get 4500 with less than 1.50v
    good luck getting set up

    today i tried for 8.5x530@4505 ddr1272 pl8
it only needed one notch increase in vcore
from 9x500@4500,which i thought was great
for using a lower multiplier and higher fsb.

Nice radaja, thats a great 8400 you have there. I know its hard to stay with the same rig for a long time but this setup you have looks like a keeper.

Thanks, Im about to install the UD3P now. I will see what bios she comes with and give it a run for its money.

That is a nice e8400 you have, no doubt!

my UD3R has been chirping every 1 second under idle (no chirp under load, no in bios, no in windows booting up/windows login)

i've been told by a few in XS that this is a common issue w/ this board, do you guys have boards that chirp also? the sound can be heard over 6 120mm fans @ 1500rpm from 4 feet away...

In theory yes as you can play more with the ram speed (more headroom), though strain on the P45 NB is very high, so to get a stable setup with 4Gb with +550FSB is harder to setup then the DDR2 variant... with the ddr2 I can get easily above 600FSB Hyperpi stable, with the DDR3 580FSB is where it stops... will try the OCZ blades once I get my board back... Also my EP45T didn't like my micron based rams, but that could be purely my board...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

    know,maybe you'll get 4500 with less than 1.50v
    good luck getting set up

    today i tried for 8.5x530@4505 ddr1272 pl8
it only needed one notch increase in vcore
from 9x500@4500,which i thought was great
for using a lower multiplier and higher fsb.

    ....
Hey, that are some nice results ! You just keep on going

Seems that I need to set tRD 2rd and tWR 2wr manually. If I leave it on [ Auto ] the board sets it to tight for PL9
Loosening those settings gives me a lot of stability in return.

    Code:
    ******Gigabyte EP45 UD3P******

******Channel A and B Timing Settings******

    Static tRead Value [ 8 ] ................[ 9 ]
    tRD Phase0 Adjustment [ 0 ] ................[ Auto ]
    tRD Phase1 Adjustment [ 0 ] ................[ Auto ]
    tRD Phase2 Adjustment [ 0 ] ................[ Auto ]
    tRD Phase3 Adjustment [ 0 ] ................[ Auto ]

    tRD 2rd (Differnt Rank) [ 6 ] ................[ 8 ]
    tWR 2wr (Differnt Rank) [ 6 ] ................[ 8 ]
    tWR 2rd (Differnt Rank) [ 5 ] ................[ 7 ]
    tRD 2wr (Same/Difft Rank) [ 7 ] ................[ 9 ]

Only high voltages are vCore and vMCH. Tried 1.48v but LinX wil error. Also tried a noth lower vCore but same thing.

DemonEyez very nice OC.also thanks for this info here.

    tRD Phase2 Adjustment [ 0 ] ................[ Auto ]
    tRD Phase3 Adjustment [ 0 ] ................[ Auto ]

    tRD 2rd (Differnt Rank) [ 6 ] ................[ 8 ]
    tWR 2wr (Differnt Rank) [ 6 ] ................[ 8 ]
    tWR 2rd (Differnt Rank) [ 5 ] ................[ 7 ]
    tRD 2wr (Same/Difft Rank) [ 7 ] ................[ 9 ]

ive never really checked what setting the board sets.great to know for when
im on the edge of stability,to be able to loosen these up and be stable is a +
    in my book.thanks

    today i decided to give 550x8@4400 ddr1320 pl8 a go,and it wasnt easy.but i got it.
i tried all sorts of voltages, some that i knew were not needed, and were quite excessive.
everything i tried failed blend before i could even hit 10 minute mark.finally i took a step back
and looked at the facts.voltages were not going to solve it.and decided to raise my mch ref
up one notch and bingo, problem solved.i guess 0.70 (showing in ET6) is ok up to 530fsb after
that 0.720 (showing in ET6)is whats needed.at least for me.later ill try and see if 0.720 will work
ok with my OC's below 550fsb.
anyways i got this one today.
    8x550@4400 w/1.29v ddr1320 pl8 w/2.28v

going to try for 8x563@4504 ddr1351.but i doubt i can do it.

Having issues with my UD3P board. Restarts on any setting other than default in bios. Windows bsod's if Im able to get that far. Tried these things, different ram, a different video card, HDD, really thought it was my old SilverStone PSU, so I went out and picked up a new PSU, basically tried all new hardware and still the same thing. Im guessing the mobo took a dump. Have another UD3P but this was on my main rig which now has my old P5KDeluxe in it. Any thoughts on what else it could be other than mobo? Also re-flashed the bios.

Also put the CPU that was in it into my other UD3P and oc's like a champ.

maybe try taking the battery out and leave it out overnight.
sometimes thats all it takes.i had a similar thing with my dfi P35-UT-TR2S.

When I first got this UD3p board I hated the large number of settings. Now im trying again with my P5K board and its almost like you have 2 options, vcore and more vcore. Cant believe I liked this board before trying the Gigabyte board.

Thanks, will try it tomorrow when I put it back in. Was getting frustrated so I put the asus board in.

I think it must be a case wire grounding out, the asus board started flaking out now also.
