    Cheers

Note: I do not know whats your room temperature normally.
I know that the temps are high but when I run LinX (max problem size, max memory use) it gets very hot @ ~1,35v, when I run P95 small temp drops by ~10C and I can drop vcore by ~0,10v.

Everyone that have run LinX (LinPack) with max problem size, max memory use knows that the CPU gets very hot even though the vcore is relative low.

If I back down on NB GTL to lower then +70 Crysis wouldnīt run, it freeze and I have also tried CPU GTL from +50, auto, +50, auto to auto, -50, auto, -50 and seems that the system are most stable with auto, -40, auto, -40.

I can play games, web browsing, watch movie, encode, decode, run LinX, run P95 small FFT, loop 3DMark06 and Vantage for hours and other daily things without problems with the setup I have now but I are not stable with P95 blend.

So maybe I have to get into the black magic art of DRAM Skew but I donīt have a clue where to start.

    Thank you for your input

If you're not stable with blend I don't think you have to mess around with DRAM clock skew as they have nothing to do with it IMO. Try back down the CPU Multi and test again and if blend fails then most likely your FSB isn't stable.

Thumbs down latest BIOS 1201 is Fubar

Has anyone tried the latest BIOS 1201?

    I think it is FUBAR,

After one week going back to 1104 as the 1201 has problems picking up my RAID and keyboard at times.
also takes longer to detect the drives

I know that itīs stable with the multi that I use but I will try to test with vtt and try to get it stable through P95 blend.

I use to run it with 4 instances @ 925Mb each and dedicate one at each core, that way I almost max out my memory and put some pressure on the CPU.

    Any thoughts on that?

Or maybe OCCT 3.0 is a good idea

I donīt like OCCT, not enough options, but thatīs me, I prefer LinX and Prime95.

I canīt make it P95 blend stable with 0403, Iīll try 1104.

Finally Iīm stable with P95 blend (4 instances @ 925Mb each), how, I ran the same setup with 1104 and thatīs it.

    Sure feels nice to be stable with 4x1 @ 1800 777 21 1N tRD6 Strong and a Q9650 @ 450 9 4,05GHz.

oh boy, am i glad i found this thread...lots of interesting reading to do!

just got this board and im amazed at all the features available....so many!

i installed this board thursday and did my basic bios setup, after flashing to v.1201.

but i've got this annoying problem i cant seem to get rid of, no matter what settings i use in bios...

when i shut down via the start menu, the pc does its thing, shuts down...and then starts right up again after 4-5 seconds!

if i really want to leave it off, i have to turn off the psu switch...that cant be right?

here are my specs, any help is appreciated!

    Asus Rampage Extreme, bios v.1201
Intel Quad 9450 @ stock settings for the moment
4gb ddr3 ocz reaper 1066mhz @ stock timings for the moment

    LG HDDVD/BR optical drive
Basic MS keyboard (spilled beer on my G15 last nite! )

It does that to me, too, but when I try to put it to Sleep, not when shutting it down. Honestly, I don't have any clue why it's doing that to you (or me!) Have you tried clearing the BIOS and start from scratch and see if it helps?

well, it did that when i first plugged it in, with the original bios (0302 i think)...

so i set all my settings, including power options in bios, same problem....

then reloaded default settings using F5 in bios...flashed to 1201 and then loaded default (still using F5) and booted to windows, problem persists...

set my settings in bios, including disabling "Power On after power loss", booted to Windows, still turns back on when i shut down...

im thinking of dowloading all previous bios files and see if any of them resolves this...

Just a thought...you may want to go to the Asustek's Forum, register and post your question over there. Someone might have an answer already. Or you can just call Asus' Tech support.

hi think in your setting of bios you write 1.45 but the cpu voltage is 1.45000 or 1.45625 and with this settings what version of bios do you use??

I am a bit unsure about the GTL refs etc which I am sure is my issue..however not knowing too much about them I am unsure what to change to try to get stable.

I have been able to run memtest no worries at these settings @ 1350Mhz.

As this ram is rated at 1800 i would have thought I would be stable at 1441Mhz but fail memtest within 10 mins everytime. Again in need of more tweaking which it where yu guys come in

I have the CPU running at stock as I have dropped the multi to keep that out of the picture -and have run Intel Burn test and Prime and the CPU is stable.

    Where should I start?

Insufficient vNB could be a problem IMO~
Try to back down FSB a bit to 400, rise the divider to 1:2 (333 strap, DRAM Frequency should be 1600)
tighten the performance Level to 7 or 8, Disable both static read / dynamic write control, and test again

I have dropped to FSB to 400, strap @ 333 with 1600Mhz freq and PL to 8

I have bumped the NB to 1.44v and retesting....will let you know how I get on.

    Can you tell me:
    1. Which BIOS version you're in?
    2. What kind of testing program you're using?

    Hi ! ..
how do you get ( on asus m.Boards) the (current) bios setup values (settings) into a sort of 'windows' readable data file ?
    is there kinda tool available?
... - or is it just that way? - to go and manually re type the numbers /data from bios screen ?

    TIA
