@Mick64, Love the rendering of the case.

Those Bitspower fittings we're created with SU and rendered in Kerkythea?

If they are I would love to get your settings....lighting, environment props settings. I have been admiring your renders and would like to get to that level with your help.

Here are a few rendering I have but I'm still not happy with it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I know it is not a waterblocks so I hope it's OK since it's a question about rendering.

    This is my V-Raptor harddrive.

All done in SU and rendered in K.

So I know this render sucks, and I need to work on lighting and background and pretty much everything, but it's my first attempt at rendering anything in my life, so go easy I threw this together in about an hour including rendering time (Sketchup + Kerkythea) I plan on working on it for a loooooong time tomorrow to make it look decent. I've been admiring all of you guys from afar and decided to see what I could add (kind of takes away from the thread if you ask me, but hey, gotta start somewhere )

p.s. - I know it won't actually work, I'll be getting to that part tomorrow. I just wanted to make something up real quick that I could try to render

Edit: and I used glass instead of some kind of acrylic for the top, I was kind of in a rush

The base is recessed a couple of mm, so there's some space between.

Back to some SolidWorks, just a Northbridge + Southbridge concept preview. If I could only get these CNC'd

Scooby, sorry I haven't got back to you, but I don't get a lot of time. Yes I do use SketchUp & Kerkythea, but I'm no expert. I am still finding my way around both these programs. Your renders look pretty good, to improve them, it's just a case of experimenting with different materials and maybe make some adjustments to them using the material editor. Inserting lights in different positions, and try using globals, I am mainly using the HDRProbe. I then render using 'Metropolis Light Transport (BPT)' normally between 50 and 100 passes.

Hope we will see some more of your work in the future....

    Wow... That looks nice.

The internal devices like mobo/waterblocks/RAM, did you make them by yourself? Or used those from that site with all the sketchup'd parts (cant remember the url)

And how long does it take to render that?

Most of the internals have been downloaded from the SketchUp warehouse, with some modifications of my own. It's the case design thats all my own work, just using the internals to show what the case would look like with the components installed. It takes about 3 hours to do 50 passes, which is normally enough for a crisp render, but I only ever use 3 cores of my Q6600 so I still have some processing power for other tasks...

Little progress on the combo block (still need to add O-Ring, M4 screws and fittings)...

Evil, any tips on how you did your o-rings in Inventor? Still trying to find a somewhat simple way to do them in Solidworks.
