This could be laid upon said individual as being a fool/n00b/ect...
One would have to assume that the issues are with the PCI-E slots being x8 electrical, and not supplying enough power thru the slot for said X2 cards??

No difference,the P45 is PCI-E 2.0 and can handle any card in Crossfire (proven 2-3 weeks ago in a review), it was an issue on 2x8 PCI-E 1.0/1 Slots like P35 had.
And its bandwidth not power, the slots will provide the same power be it 1x16 or 2x8.
