The HDD was most likely a fluke. I've never seen a board kill an HDD unless there was a ground issue aka lightening strike.


Tightening up your uncore didn't kill your board/cpu/drive. Linpack put the nails in the coffin. I had one of my techs tell me that he wants to use linpack as a procedural test for replacement cpus. I told him to save the $ for every cpu that he runs it on so when it comes back failed, he can pay for it.
