Sorry but tbh, this board doesnt near compare to my DFI P35 LP UT T2R...i was able to run FSB's of 570 to 585 doing superspi...and my temps were alot better.
I've got this board now and i really dont like the voltage increments at all...the jump between them is too much.,.. seriously .300 to 400 wtf.
I was able to run less than 1.5v for 570fsb on my DFI...this one im there and struggle to even get 550fsb into windows....
DFI FTW, wish i could have gotten another one...

the Biostar is a budget board that is decent in overclock and performance...don't know why you can't get 550 stable...look at the first page of this thread where i posted my bios shots of an E8500 at 550 FSB (prime certified) and a 9650.
have you removed all the heatsinks on the Biostar to upgrade the TIM...the TIM on the PWM mosfet is pathetically inadequate...i replaced all the pins/springs with a bolts/nuts (better clamp down action)...see my link in my signature for the correct size....Abit's IP35 Pro had problems until i did the bolt and TIM mod on the heatpipe system for that board...after accomplishing it, i saw more stability in my overclock.

but wit the tpower
i can barely go pass 450x9.....and it only works at 1:1 mem divider

so any of u guys care to comment/share some idea on what is going on wit my mobo?
is it spoilt? time for RMA?

Hi all..Just got one of these based on this thread and Ive had 27 blue screens in two days trying to LOAD XP !!
It just wont load.
Blue screens vary from drivers, ram to irql or something not equal to some thing else..
Ive changed from 3.4G Pentium D to Q6600 , ram from 1G to 4g`s, ddr2- 667 to ddr2-800 , Corsair to teamXtreme`s..Upped voltages etc etc and still no go.
Im now RMA,ing the board thinking the problem may be with the board..
Anyone shed some light on this for me please?
Found a Googled topic of something similar where the problem was bad soldering on the board..
Cheers from Africa.

Try playing with the GTL's and also u need to put the CPU shew to 200

Try setting the MCH GTL Ref to .59. I've not been able to OC either of the CPUs that I've had on this board very far without adjusting that setting from Auto. The settings on the first page of this thread should be a good starting point, though I've not gone as high as he did with the NB and memory voltages.

any ideas guys?
i cant go more than 450x9
i tried 500x8 and it wouldnt save the setting i did
I have i of these boards coming that I got in the for sale section. I am going to have to read through this thread for sure. Going to set it up as cruncher.
Is there a new rev out by Biostar? I am asking because when I had mine (rev 5.1), there was no problem at all to boot and run SPi 32M @ 620 FSB. I didn't try Orthos (that was not my 24/7 PC). But at this moment, members are already have problems with 450+ FSB!
im doing 500x8 just fine here

@mattkosem
tqs matt
ive set the mch gtl ref value to auto for the time being
i did try out .59 and .61...but neither passed for stability at 444x9
but nvm.....i'l b experimenting on it more once i get home from work today
p/s: i heard that V5.0 is supposely better than 5.1 (the one im using) as ive heard that a few other members also has sum problems oc'ing wit v5.1 ....... but it is yet to be proven

I must chime in and say that it all depends on the user and their goals with this board. Most of the hype was generated by huge fsb and 1m overclocking, and most of those records still stand. There is not any other system including any x58 that can touch this board in 1m except the DFI P45 Plus, which is about the same if you know how to tweak.
On the other hand, it's pretty damn easy to setup a good OC for 24/7. I literally beat the crap out of this board this summer freezing it to an ice block during 8 hour sessions many times, and it still clocks like day one. Maybe I go a lucky board, but I don't know, I think it's pretty awesome. My other two favorite boards in the rotation are the Rampage Extreme and the DFI LP UT P35 T2R, both of which are great. The vcore grnularity is my only gripe but it's not a deal killer. I would not waste my time to bench DDR2 Core2 on any other board with LN2.
Hi five biostar.
