I am in a bit of a hurry but I will post my bios settings on an update to this post in a little bit but I am shocked that this board runs this well it's awesome on all levels...

I am running the Gigabyte with the 920 and Patriot 1600 cas9

Hope this helps I am calling this 100% stable but I gotta prime for hours to be sure....

Note: I had to bump my Vcore to 1.4 in the bios to run stable in the picture I was trying for some lower settings but they didn't take....

What overclock on qpi and core speed can be maintained while keeping nb temps below 45 and core temps below 60?

    Using the best air cooling.

Because I think a lot of people out there want the performance but don't want they heat in their cash to fry everything else.

For the XMP profile (not show in the spd table) it's cause it's not enabled on the spd register. (B2=0x00)

I am using the UD5 and I have the V8 but I am quick to trade it in for the Zalman CNPS9900 when it comes out in the next day or so.. I don't notice any heat dump on any of my heatsinks this board is cool to the touch while priming any place you touch it North and South and all the mosfets just cool calm and collected motherboard... Very pleased with my board it's amazing just wish it had e-sata my only complaint...

Hey, don't forget to update us after you've had time to really test the stability. I'd love to know if that OC holds water long term.

    Well, I'm still stuck with a stock cooler . Running my Core i7 940 at just over 3.5GHz rock solid 24/7 @ 1.208-1.216V (4 cores/8 threads stable), memory at ~1825MHz @ 1.65V.

I guess not bad for a really crappy stock cooler (920 and 940 have the lower-end stock cooler).

Allright gentleman here I am again just a quick update a couple of screen shots after an hour then 2 hours of priming I am really happy with the 920 and the Gigabyte UD5 it's a really incredible set up I ended up with this board by mistake, Mwave sold me a RIIE and when I went to pick it up they didn't have it so the only other board was the Gigabyte so I rolled with it and now this is my motherboard for keeps, you couldn't pry this thing out of my clutches for anything!! I cancelled my RIIE and I am happy, happy, happy........

Great results Guacomole. I have the exact same cpu and mobo as you, could you plz post your bios settings? Im pretty average when it comes to overclocking, but i can follow instruction pretty well, so can you make detailed bios settings- perhaps screenshots?....
    Thanks in advance.

Edit: Nevermind, i just saw your post at the top of the page.

What are your ram timings, and what is your cpu to ram ratio?

Guacamole your tjunction temperature is not good, it's 100°c for core i7 so your temp is higher than you think. Check the last beta rel temp log.

Once you pin down Vcore for OC, QPI/vtt for uncore Mhz and mem volts it is easy to switch between multipliers by adjusting mem voltage/speed and uncore volt/speed.

182x22 prime 12+hrs (settings previous post)
191x21 overnight for 7+ hrs, (uncore lowered 16x, mem to 1.62v o/w same settings)
20x200 prime 6+hrs (cant run longer leaving town) (uncore 16x and vtt up to 1.32 and mem voltage to 1.64)...

uncore from 18 to 16 however is similar to running TRD 9 versus 7, if can believe everest. Despite going from 182x22 to 191x21 with increased blck and increased mem speed, I lost mem performance very small degree b/c also dropped uncore to 16x. In order to fully utilize 20x200 with increased mem speed need to be willing to run higher vtt/qpi volts to allow higher uncore mhz.

bu why do you want to change your V8 to a zalman ? and why did you change the stock fan for the V8 ?

Stock fan sucks temps were out of control, the V8 is all that I could find for the 1366 and I always like Zalman the best I have always run Zalman coolers for all my air cooling, plus the V8 is not the best design very cheap..

Update: I am having some trouble on the 20 multiplier (fail prime after 3 hours) so now I have read a little in the other threads I am trying 4.0 at 211 Bclk with the 19X multiplier it seems to be working better but I'll keep you posted....

Gaucomole, nice job on air, I bet you are 1 notch vcore away from prime stable 20x200. Or a few C too high at current volts. Would be interesting if you had temps lower 5-7C and see if stable at current vcore or lower, also be interesting to see if 19x211 gets you there without raising vcore. I dont think mine will prime at 211 bclk...wont boot past 215. Water I think is going to make it much easier to OC these hot things.

F3E bios is ok as long as leave turbo off. Turbo on bug raises bclk to 23 all time, not just for turbo, so need additional .03vcore just to boot, and almost twice that to run prime....so back to F3 til bug fixed.

EDIT: Cant use turbo mode when using lower multiplier on stock on any bios as then will increase multiplier by 2 instead of one, requiring much higher vcore for stability.
Example 22x182 for 4ghz, prime stable with and without turbo (23x182 or 4186mhz)
21x191 for 4ghz, will not even boot at same vcore because turbo is then 23x191 (4393). Had to increase vcore by .03V to support even booting 4393 on core 0/1, ran prime couple mins but no time to play with it....apparently one negative of i940 over i920 if wanting to run 20x200 with turbo on...and turbo makes a significant difference.

    Hello all,

I just ordered my i7 920, should be arriving by Dec 2nd. Still to decide on mobo - Asus/ GB / Evga - I am confused which to pick (I am not an extreme overclocker though 3.6 to 3.8 would do fine with me.)

Can anyone tell me, if my TUNIQ Tower will fit on this LGA1366 socket layout ? Or Do I have shell out money to get a new CPU Cooler too ????

    Thanks for your help.
