I think I finally got the last one. Normally I review the tape in the morning but even at 20x, 12 hours is a long time. So me, the gf and one of the cats are watching (get a life? I don't understand ) and the mouse has gnawed all the way down to the concrete where the bait bars where but he's still going for that last morsel. Finally he decides to check out the spring trap with the peanut butter on it. Now, these traps aren't that sensitive. They have a bait scented trigger - hard to explain. The point is they don't trip easily. So to improve my odds, I figured I would put the trap on an angle and maybe throw the little rodent off a little. So the spring bar end is resting on the ledge and the bait end is resting on a 2x4 over one of the windows.

The mouse climbs up over the spring and starts chowing down on the peanut butter. We can't believe it. The mouse goes away, comes back and starts eating from the bait end. Now everyone, and especially the cat, are seriously po'd. He leaves and comes back for thirds. I was a little heavy handed with the peanut butter. This time its from the spring end again. I guess he was running out of peanut butter because he finally crawls up so his entire body is resting on the trigger. We're about to hyperventilate at this point because WTF does he have to do to trip this friggin' trap? Jump up and down on trigger while singing karaoke? I mean come the **** on!!! I can't take it anymore and start to fast forward and we see that the trap fell off the ledge. The crowd goes wild. We back it up for the slo-mo, end-zone boogie replay. Yup, the trap is finally sprung.

BUT, it only gets him by the legs and he's still trying to make a run for it. Eventually it falls behind the box it landed on. I think at that point it died of fright but not before digging its little claws into something. It took a couple of tugs but I finally got him lose and into a bucket of water - just in case he was playing possum.

If I don't see any more over the next couple nights - especially with a couple of the cold nights we've had - I think I can assume I plugged their access hole and have captured them all. I can only hope I was able to do so before they were able to call for reinforcements.
First off you must be feeding your cats too much food. Starve them for a few days and they will get their lazy arses to work. Second, regular mouse trap with a little bit of peanut butter spread over the trigger like putting on TIM. They then have to work a little harder to get the peanut butter and Wham, there goes their neck.
