Good Mornin, slept in myself. CD it looks like rain here today. I think I will work on finishing my current test bench. The others became Crunchers so daddy needs a new one to play with.

I was supposed to be getting a new Gigabyte board for this bench but that never materialized. I did buy some G.Skill DDR2-8800 "PI" memory for it though, that will teach me to buy parts before the MB is in hand.

maybe this isn't the place for it, but it's not like that has ever stopped me before.

The doc increased my prozac by 50% to 30mg/day a few days ago and it already seems to be having an effect. I can't be sure since it's not an emotion I am familiar with, but I think, possibly, that I might actually feel happy today.

My shrink is such a character. I'd been on 20mg for months but it never occurred to him to up the dose. So I ask him about it and he says 'oh, yeah, very few people see a therapeutic effect with just 20mg - it's usually much higher - especially for people with anxiety or OCD'. Well, thank you Dr. Clueless. Were you going to wait until I was shopping for a nursing home to tell me that? Jesus H. Christian Anderson! WTF!

It's really odd that it would start to work so quickly, but I guess the initial titration period of 2-6 weeks is only when you start taking the drug.

Well, we'll see if it lasts. It would be nice to feel human. At least, I'm guessing it will. It's not like I would have any way of knowing.

My Prozac experience was not therapeutic. It did not make me happy...it made me repressed lol. I found it difficult to respond quickly.

SSRI's have that effect on some people - like the kids from Columbine I think. Hey, you don't live near any large shopping malls or other public places do you?

Seriously, its a big problem. Prozac can also cause extreme aggression - sort or like 'roid rage. I first took it about 15 years ago. I've always had a bad temper. I can control it up to a point but then I just lose it and its like I'm not even a part of what's happening - I'm just a spectator - hard to explain. Anyway, Prozac rolled back my irritation threshold several notches. It was responsible for my second of only 2 road rage incidents - well, 3 actually, but I don't think its road rage when a pedestrian is involved. Oh . . . wait a minute . . . . .

But of all the SSRI's, it's the one I've tolerated the best. This time around I just kept hoping that the mild increase in depression would eventually go away. It took about 4 or 5 months, but it finally did. And starting out at half the normal dose for the first 2 or 3 months also helped. I'm still worried that after this increase it will happen again though. Usually after a dosage increase I feel better for a week or 2 and then worse for a few months before it finally starts to improve again. But in that respect I'm pretty sure that I'm atypical. Although this didn't surprise my shrink too much so I assume he's seen it before.

The worst SSRI was Luvox - which at the time was supposed to be the magic bullet for OCD. God, if I were ever going to kill myself it would have been when I was taking that crap. I mean it's a good drug for a lot of people, but for me, I've never felt worse in my entire life. I had just started a new job at the time (note: never take a new psychotropic when starting a new job ) and after 3 days I quit because I just couldn't handle it. It felt like some weird sort of purgatory where every minute seemed to last for hours. It's a little bizarre to think that an anti-depressant can actually make depression so much worse. I never understood how someone could WANT to die until then.

If that works for you, that's wonderful.

I have an update on my mouse problem. I thought I'd gotten rid of them but it looks like I had/have an infestation. Over the past 2 weeks I've caught about 6 of them - mostly with glue traps and peanut butter. And every time I catch one I check my mouse tv cam to see if there are any more, and there always are. However the last 3 or 4 have had a distinct family resemblance - they all spoke with a lisp. Kidding. They all had very white fur on their underside - makes them easy to spot when you're reviewing tape at 20x.

My electrocution trap is caput but I left it our to see if any of the bait was missing and it wasn't. However there have been plenty of bait bars for them to eat. Now those are gone and they are munching on the hot glue I used to attach them to the ledge.

I think they're getting desperate because the last one I caught was in a spring trap and normally they just jump over these. It's really, really, annoying to see this fat little mouse just bound over my trap like it's not even there and completely turn his nose up at my peanut butter. And its quality PB that I stole from the gf - not some cheesy store brand.

Anyway, to go for one of the traps, you know they're getting hungry.

The only question now is have I successfully denied them ingress and egress? If I have, then this must be a family that was already in the basement. I think this might be true because there is only one corner that has not been disturbed by my de-packratification efforts and on mouse tv I always see them climbing down the wall into this corner in the exact same place.

If that's true, then the question is, how many pups in the average litter? I mean I've already caught 6 and at least 3 of those looked like they were related. They denied it, but I know they lie. Although under the influence of the anesthetic in the glue traps, it's hard to say. Either they were telling the truth or they've had special SERE training. What if they're an Al Qaeda cell? Should I call Homeland security? They look pretty shifty . . . . .

The other possibility is that there is another access point that I have not yet discovered. If so that will mean redoubling my surveillance efforts. Shouldn't I be able to get a grant for some of this stuff? I mean I have my own interests here, but I'm also defending the national security so how about throwing me a bone huh? I don't need a Global Hawk with Hellfire missiles - just some night vision equipment and a few proximity sensors - that's all.

I hate getting aggravated first thing.

Went to the vet where we've spent probably thousands overt the years.

Walk in...there are two other people...I wait...No acknowledgement...not even eye contact from the receptionist. Staff comes out to ask questions...phone rings...she handles that and takes a lengthy note...staff come out again...still not even a "I'll be right with ytou" Not even a glance...Phone rings again...she starts filling an order for the MF on the phone while the client standing right in front of her starts getting pissed.

Staff comes out again more questions and says "so and so in on line 2"

Well guess the what I'm standing right in front of you...what about that???

When she started with her third phone order I said "I guess I'll go home and call so I can get through to you."

That's it for me. I am not giving them another dime. I don't care they love my dog and my dog loves them they let me stand for ten minutes without so much as a mothering good morning.

    Good morning indeed here.
Cpu is cooler than ever. I did but new thermal paste on it yesterday, when i started to install it i did notice that 50% of that old paste aplied when i bought my q6600 was gone or atleast the moist part of it, just some dust on top of cpu. So i would say arctic silver 5 will work about 7000 hours since my power on total AC on timer is now 7600 hours.

well, its not morning, but this is where I have been talking about my ongoing mouse infestation, so . . . .

I think I finally got the last one. Normally I review the tape in the morning but even at 20x, 12 hours is a long time. So me, the gf and one of the cats are watching (get a life? I don't understand ) and the mouse has gnawed all the way down to the concrete where the bait bars where but he's still going for that last morsel. Finally he decides to check out the spring trap with the peanut butter on it. Now, these traps aren't that sensitive. They have a bait scented trigger - hard to explain. The point is they don't trip easily. So to improve my odds, I figured I would put the trap on an angle and maybe throw the little rodent off a little. So the spring bar end is resting on the ledge and the bait end is resting on a 2x4 over one of the windows.

The mouse climbs up over the spring and starts chowing down on the peanut butter. We can't believe it. The mouse goes away, comes back and starts eating from the bait end. Now everyone, and especially the cat, are seriously po'd. He leaves and comes back for thirds. I was a little heavy handed with the peanut butter. This time its from the spring end again. I guess he was running out of peanut butter because he finally crawls up so his entire body is resting on the trigger. We're about to hyperventilate at this point because WTF does he have to do to trip this friggin' trap? Jump up and down on trigger while singing karaoke? I mean come the **** on!!! I can't take it anymore and start to fast forward and we see that the trap fell off the ledge. The crowd goes wild. We back it up for the slo-mo, end-zone boogie replay. Yup, the trap is finally sprung.

BUT, it only gets him by the legs and he's still trying to make a run for it. Eventually it falls behind the box it landed on. I think at that point it died of fright but not before digging its little claws into something. It took a couple of tugs but I finally got him lose and into a bucket of water - just in case he was playing possum.

If I don't see any more over the next couple nights - especially with a couple of the cold nights we've had - I think I can assume I plugged their access hole and have captured them all. I can only hope I was able to do so before they were able to call for reinforcements.

We ended up having to go the "final solution" route when I was a kid. We burnt a packet of sulphur under the floor (and went out for a couple of days) to gas the little fekkers. Seemed to work, too.
