Now now, sorry to offend, I was just asking a question. I assumed that everyone was aware of what it said in the manual, which doesn't really lay down the circumstances under which it is necessary. I'm just wondering if there's any reason to have it connected if I don't have dual cards, since the placement of the connector is really inconvenient for clean cabling and it doesn't seem to make any difference with only one card installed.

i'm trying to overclock my Q6600 past 3.17.. I tried to set my FSB to 400 and my multi down to 8 instead of 9.. I get no video when i boot. I have SpeedStep disabled, Fine tune enabled, C1E disabled and all the voltage's set on auto.. the best i can get stable is 353X9.. I can put it on 363x9 with all of those settings i just mentioned but it locks up after about a hour or not even that.. can anyone help me get the 400x8 to work as this puts my memory at is designed speed of 1000mhz.

wierd i still get the 3 boot cycle, i set the ram volts and timings to spec, any other reason id get that happening?

That's called a Global Reset. Perfectly normal. The bios is changing certain parameters that require a reboot. Usually it happens once or twice, but 3x happens also. It's system dependent.

Try setting your NB GTL to .64, that should get you past 400.

Which FSB and FTAM you set ? which voltages ?
If the memory cannot run at this speed the computer wont post.

Try setting your NB GTL to .64, that should get you past 400.

MCH GTL is the one that I was suggesting. I had to adjust that to get my quad to boot at over 400. It's hard to say without knowing what you've got things set to now. The board is rated for 400mhz FSB, so the NB should be fine, but you could give NB voltage a try. You could also potentially try FSB voltage if you're in the safe zone.

What is the save Zone for voltages on the Chipset and FSB? Also what does FSB FineTuning do that would help me overclock? i've ajusted PLL, MCH GTL to 64.. but i cant get the video to come one.. its totally wierd.. i have c1e disabled and Speed Step.. what about CPU TM? leave it on? If anyone has a quad can you take a pic of your O.N.E Page and Voltage Page? I think this will help me out the most

post all ur voltages and bios settings and i'll see what u got, u shouldn;t have any trouble with 400fsb, what did u have the voltage for the ram? u will most likely need 2.4v+

when you say no video on boot it means your Vcore and several sub voltages are deficient.

take a look at the first page of this thread...i have image shots of the bios for a QX9650 and E8500...the 9650 images should get you rolling in the right direction.

im guessing u r trying to run the ram at 1066??? change the strap/latch to auto and the ddr2 to 1065MHz, then set the ddr voltage +.500v. the ram need alot for voltage for this mobo but run fine

i run 2.4v on my corsair dominator 1066 rated for 5-5-5-15 2.1v only way to get it to post at 1000MHz+, like ace keeps saying look at page 1

the high Vdimm is not needed UNLESS you have been using the memory in another set-up and you have been feeding the ram that much voltage for an extended period of time...i initially tried 2.48 but i worked it down to 2.1v.

2.1 to 2.2 should be fine for a new set of ram or ram that has NOT been exposed to high Vdimm on other boards.

EDIT:...notice my notes on the bios image next to Vdimm readout...i said, i worked it down to 2.28 while holding 550 FSB...i even rememberd going down to 2.18 and it worked fine.

My Dominator run 1000mhz@2.16v (it can run at less voltage but it will be less stable).

no my rams not the problem.. my ram is rated for 1000mhz and it will do it just fine.. right now with the setup above my RAM is running at 892Mhz.. Even with a higher overclock the ram still is'nt hitting 1000mhz unless i get up in the 390's or switch to a 8x multiplier by 400FSB.. i've pretty much ruled the RAM out...I will strap it to whatever neccessary to keep it under 1000 mhz so i know it's not the RAM giving me trouble. Please post your voltage settings AND Other bios settings.. Mushkin Redlines do not want more than 2.1 volts.. They will overclock fine at 2.1 volts to 1060 if need be.. Even if i set my FSB to 400 and my multi to 8x then my ram is only running at 1000mhz. but it will not show any video with these settings.. i know my ram runs find at 1000mhz becaue i've tried it on a different latch.. my bios settings is the problem.. do you guys see anything wrong?

Hello folks first time poster on this forum although I've been reading for a while now, and all I can say is WOW! So much info and helpful folks here I just purchased this board about a month ago and I'm having an issue, but 1st here is a list of my hardware:
e8400 @4.2 w/ 1.32v 525x8 or 467x9 CPU will do 500x9 @1.45v no problems
Visiontek HD 4870 512mb @850/4400
CoolerMaster 850w PSU 6 rails 128a combined
G. Skill PC-8000 2x2GB @1050 w/2.1v 1:1

I've tried many different settings but I always get the off/on three times then system boots into windows for maybe 4-5 seconds BSOD the reboot and perfectly fine, and when I say perfectly fine I mean prime95 stable for 2hrs 15min, OCCT stable, I can run super PI, and I game without any issues, Grid, Warhead, Fallout 3

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!
