Yes, I still have that habit too, turning off unused onboard stuff used to improve OC performance a LOT back in the day. I guess some things just stick with you

And I agree, the effect of some background services running being so marginal might be due to the 8-core, 8GB mem, dedicated storage subsystem nature of said machine

Need to check on older machines.
