Are you sure these are recommended? On the main download page, these are development versions.
But anyway, it's working fine on my machine (Vista 32 bit)

I'll try it on one and see how it goes for a week or so. Thanks

edit: I don't think this is a recommended version. The boinc d/l site lists it as a development version and after install it says pre-release. I'll still see how it goes on this one machine and report.

Oh gee, I made a mistake. Silly me. It said recommended the other day. Oh well. Serves me right for trying to be helpful.

You can update this thread for now on.

    That seemed unnecessarily rude.

Cut Sierra a break he does tons of work here for our benefit, and the benefit of others, usually without thanks, not everyone can be cheerful 100% of the time.

    I've thanked him before.

Yes, I understand he does a ton of work around here, but it just seemed like that was awfully mean. I'm not trying to offend anyone or anything.

    6.2.18 vs. 6.3.14, Q6600 running 456x9=4107Mhz on XP x64 SP2:

    6.2.18:

    FPU 3869
    Integer 10931

    6.3.14

    FPU 3878
    FPU 10746

    6.3.14

Since 6.3.12 is even faster than 6.2.18 I'd currently recommend using 6.3.12

I have not been in this thread in a while but I agree that was unnecessarily rude. IMO
I think he just has to much on his plate now he is a mod and all. But still no reason to be rude about it.

i was using 6.3.14 and it was crashing on me. just woke up to get ready for work and it said "Boinc can't connect..." and when i click "Ok" the manager goes blank and i have to close and reopen it. so, my pc sat idle for some period of time again last night i just moved back to 6.2.19 since its recommended

    *Noob question alert*
Is there any real reason to update boinc to newest version? I mean do they increase performance regularly or is it ok as long as the older versions work?

I updated to the beta and had problems with that...I went back to an earlier version and it seems like it's taking longer to complete projects. Although that could be just my imagination. Also my point average is dropping, but that could be due to catching up or some inactivity over the past couple days.

Depends on the version. Some improve performance, some don't. That's why we keep posting bench comparisons, in order to figure out which version currently is the fastest.

I run 6.3.12 on all machines but 1 (still on 6.3.14, no problems there, just not enough time to change version right now).
