I agree Hornet that a few people have made some very exagerrated irrational statements, like the one you reference. You seem to be the only other person in this thread even remotely willing to call them on it.
I have acknowledged from the beginning that 4870 is by far the best value, the best bang for the buck, and an excellent card. AMD deserves huge props!
If they could conistently beat GTX280SLI I would buy AMD/ATI 4870 happily.
But they cannot beat GTX280SLI. SO all I have said is:
1) HD4870 is best value, 80-85% of GTX280 for 1/2 price.
2) GTX280 is ultimate performance that AMD cannot currently beat with a card available now, SLI seems much more consistent too (Like Crossfire not working at all or even worse than a single card in some games).
What amazed me were the people that started attacking me personally for just stating these simple facts, yelling and screaming about how 4870 was ultimate performance etc etc
Watch someone will reply to this post with name calling or a hystrionic fit.
