4ghz is stretching it for a Q6600 unless you are on chilled water....could be that the newest bios shuts down 2 cores automatically once above a predetermined MHZ for 65nm processors...other board maker bioses have the capability to select (enable) only two out of four cores to work so it can post to boot at the higher end of the overclock.
