Nope. Put them in the blue or black slots. I prefer blue.

Hi guys, maybe this is the wrong place but...

I ordered an Abit IP35 (just IP35, no -E, non-Pro), and all the beta bios posts I see are either for the Pro or the -E

Nothing for the plain IP35?

Thanks!

Those sticks should treat you well. I would go with either those or the new corsair 2x2gig dominator sticks. The g.skill ones i'm running work pretty well, least running their rated speed right now. Haven't tried them at 800 speeds though. They'll run just fine though if you're not wanting to pony up the extra cash for the mushkin or corsair.

Wrong place, but I'll give ya the answer to your question anyways
IP35 == IP35-E
They both use the same BIOS

My IDE DVD burner has been acting crazy since the day I started using this mobo. Windows (XP/Vista64) recognizes the drive but but it's always unable to read any CD/DVD. My OS almost freezes and I get error messages. I've tried to install JMicron IDE driver, after googling for a solution, but nothing changed. I've checked BIOS and it's set to IDE. Any solutions???

I haven't heard of people having problems with IDE and this motherboard.

Which BIOS do you have? Any firmware updates for that drive? You could spring for a IDE to SATA converter if your luck doesn't change.

fan header power output ?

Q: Does anyone know the maximum power output of each fan header on the IP35 Pro? Or maximum current at 12v?

A: An end-user on the Abit support forum suggested a safe upper limit is 0.3 A.
http://forum.uabit.com/showpost.php?...29&postcount=4

Arctic Cooling suggests the design spec for the CPU fan header on P965 and after motherboards is 3A.

i read somewhere that the max output is 0.6A

i can't give a source, but i do remember that it was a reliable one. still, you don't want to run those things at max output anyway...you're better off with a sunbeam rheobus fan controller that can handle almost anything you put on it.

I've tried bios 14 and 16b10. I've tried different dvd burners (Pioneer and Benq) and I already updated their firmware. Luckily I've a sata dvd burner also.

I've tried 2 IDE burners, benq and pioneer, and I have a 3rd sata samsung burner. Benq is just left over from another build. But for some reason this mobo doesn't like me very much. Vdroop is horrible (tried pencil mod, didn't change much), couldn't oc my e8400 to 4ghz stable. To be honest, I've bought this mobo just because I got really pissed with SLI and CF. This is my 4th mobo this year: Maximus Formula (excelent mobo, 2xHD3870 CF sucks), Evga 780i (died and killed my RAM 2 times), P5K-E Wifi (returned because my video card blocked 2 sata ports) and this one. Overall is a good board but I don't know... I'm not really impressed. It does what is supposed to do but not being able to oc an e8400 really pissed me off. It would crash in 30 sec no matter what voltage. I've tried different gtl like you've recommended, from 61 to 69%, and same thing. Anyway, thanks for the help. I'll wait and see what happens.

I went thru the same with the IDE DVD-ROM when I installed the CD-ROM that came with mobo, then installed BETA 16.B04 BIOS.
Then I switched to BETA 16.B09 BIOS and d/l the drivers from Neely's Post #1 and miraculously it started working

I downloaded the drivers from the 1st page, it seemed newer, and miraculously it started working too. Go figure... And I'm pushing my Q6600 up to 3825Ghz, CPUZ says 1.53~55V, and it seems stable. It's a record so far.

it might behoove you to clear CMOS with the battery out for 5-10 minutes and then try those IDE cdrom drives with a new cable.

ok, two questions for you pros... after some experimenting it seems that my system runs stable 24hr prime95 if my mem frequency is close to the 1000MHz spec. so, for me to get a stable oc I need to find the divider that puts my mem as close to 1000 as possible (3.75GHz is running for 12 hours now). my 3.6GHz goes unstable when i try a different divider (1:1 running at 800MHz, not just too high).

so, is this due to the RAM i'm using, or is this because of the mobo/bios (16.b10)?

Also, I can boot at 4GHz (500x8, 1:1 RAM), but only 2 cores show up in cpu-z or coretemp. what's up with that? can I fix that by changing volts or anything?

tell us your current FSB and multi.

4ghz is stretching it for a Q6600 unless you are on chilled water....could be that the newest bios shuts down 2 cores automatically once above a predetermined MHZ for 65nm processors...other board maker bioses have the capability to select (enable) only two out of four cores to work so it can post to boot at the higher end of the overclock.

current is 418x9 (3.762GHz), with 1.2 RAM divider. It's passed 12hr prime95 small ftt with max temps at 63C (per hwmonitor), but current load temps are 59C. 400x9 (3.6GHz) passed 24hr prime95 and max temp was 57C. vcore, vtt and mch were all increased slightly to go to 3.7

4ghz is stretching it for a Q6600 unless you are on chilled water....could be that the newest bios shuts down 2 cores automatically once above a predetermined MHZ for 65nm processors...other board maker bioses have the capability to select (enable) only two out of four cores to work so it can post to boot at the higher end of the overclock.
the only reason i thought I might try 4GHz is because I know this particular chip is good, and should be able to bench at 4ghz. got it from zucker2k and he had 12hr prime95 stable at 425x9 with 1.376v in windows

my guess is that if i had some 1066 sticks i could probably pull off 24/7 425x9 at same volts, with divider at 1.25 (puts ram at 1063mhz)

those screenshots were done actually with a spare 120mm fan...this just arrived today:

I'll be zip-tying them once I apply MX-2 (not the car ) this time (currently have AS Ceramique on it)
temporary positioned to do some Orthos today

and will post the screenshots possibly tonight afterwork

advance thanks

BTW@ golfjam, I'm glad yours started working...please post some screenshots so we all could benefit from each other's experiences.

1.53-1.55V? Is that on idle or during load? If it is during load ur vcore in the bios must be like 1.6V unless you did the vdroop mood?

just realize the more you P95 at higher vcore the more you are shortening the life on the cpu...by how much, don't know but it is widely accepted precept that higher the vcore you run the shorter the life and possibly less/decreased overclocking overhead...65nm cpu's fair better than 45nm cpu's when it comes to accepting higher vcore for a sustained period.

i have a Q6600 that could with stand P95 at 3.8 ghz but the vcore had to be around 1.52-1.54v...i took that cpu up to 4.2 ghz for a suicide run...i really had to jam the voltage up its arse...i could bench at 4ghz but the vcore would have been to high for my own satisfaction even though i do not run my puter 24/7.
