Nope. Just tried to Orthos blend @ 457x7 (3.2 Ghz) and froze within a minute.

I'm content sitting @ 3.36 Ghz (420x8), but it's an E6750. Was expecting more out of it...

And my temps are fine, barely break 51C in Orthos blend. VRM temp in Speedfan stays below 50C.

I'm using 15, but can't tell you if it's any different from 14 or others because I flashed to 15 as soon as I installed my board. But to me doesn't seem like there's any stability issue or anything. Q6600 at 3.6GHz just fine and dandy.

I hope to tomorrow when my G.Skill PC8000 4GB kit comes in. Shooting for 525+ FSB 1:1, as this RAM should be good for at least that (some have had it in the 550-570 range though).

    Hi All,
just flashed my bios last night to 16 from 15(w/c i didnt used for oc'ing) and noticed something really really strange happened. here's how it goes.

my e2140 has a wall @ 445 on bios 12 and flashed it to bios 15 but didnt have time to oc bec of work. then just last night, i saw bios 16 is already released and so i thought ill give it a try. Lo and behold, 450, 460, 470 fsb on bios!
This got me pretty excited and did some short benching, orthos and superpi.
BUT, all the time that i was benching, i didnt noticed that my fsb went back to its stock speed but my vcore and vdimm are still 1.5 and 2.2 respectively in windows.
So, i just put back my settings on default again.

    Question:
1)Did you guys experience this on 16?
2)Does this really happen? I mean it does to me but is it normal what just happened last night?

    Looking forward for some clarification.
    Thanks

Looking at your screen shot i think i have a golden chip or something, my E2140 is stable at 3.6 with 1.5Vcore in BIOS. I dont like to run tests like Orothos/Prime as we gotta Disable EIST. I just play crysis for 2-3 hours if it is stable nothing can move it, however this is my personel opinion, people at anandtech also stress their hardware playing crysis. I also read somewhere people stressing with ATI Tool etc all stable, crysis crashes in 15 mins lol

I have that too. Let's run some benchmarks to see if it is some kind of reporting error from CPU or NB to CPU-Z
CPU-Z & SetFSB shows my CPU at 266 Mhz, when bios showed 504 Mhz.

SuperPI 8M run confirms it. FSB is 266 Mhz.

Now, thats 1 confirmation. But i wonder why that happens.

    That bios is buggy

I tried to flash to ver 12 with that bios and it corrupted my BIOS chip.
Also my own stupidity was to flash from Vista with unstable settings

I have this board now and I'm intrigued as to why 1:1 seems the most popular memory divider. Is it because people have low multi CPUs so they need a high FSB, then by necessity need to run 1:1?

The reason for my intrigue is that this board has no NB Strap or option to change the tRD - it changes with the memory divider. I'm getting much higher performance in SuperPi and all 3DMarks with a higher divider (or should I say multiplier? ) and this is due, I believe, to the lower tRD rather than the higher memory frequency thus:

    340 Mhz FSB

    1:1.25 = 425Mhz, Mem 4,4,4,12, tRD 6

    1:1.5 = 510 Mhz, Mem 5-5-5-15, tRD 5

The second option is faster in all benchmarks. Theoretical memory latency is about the same (~9.4ns @ 1:1.25, ~9.8ns @ 1:1.5). Static Read Delay (tRD) is down to 14.7ns in 1:1.5, from 17.6ns in 1:1.25.

I wish this board had tRD control.

Interestingly, opening the BIOS in ModBin6 shows a hidden option "NB Strap", presumably allowing separation of the NB Strap setting from the memory divider. However, unhiding this option and writing a new BIOS resulted in a bad flash. From what I can tell, this is due to the fact ModBin6 does not support these 8Mbit BIOSs, or at least the versions we have available to us as Joe Public don't, despite the fact I can open, modify and save the BIOS correctly.

There's a special trick to it with these newer bioses. I believe rebelshaven has a writeup on it. I've never looked too far into it myself, but since I'm getting my rma replacement of this board on Tues, I figure it might be interesting. For my old dfi board, there's always been rebels haven releases to "unlock" additional straps, not that it did anything on the p965. Still is proof of concept I suppose
