And speaking of new supplies, yesterday I ordered some Arctic Cooling MX-2 from NewEgg. The more I read about this stuff, the better it sounds.

When my EK NB block arrives, both it and my D-TEK FuZion will now officially be mounted using MX-2 as their TIM.

I figure as much as we spend on our waterblocks, it is almost crazy to not use the finest TIM we can get our hands on. There are one or two other TIM's that might even give a wee bit better performance, but due to them eating aluminum, I ruled them out as something I would want to run in my system.

    I am officially a MX-2 guy now....

It looked to be a smart selection.

Check out the OP in this thread too boy's. I am trying to make it as informative as I can. If there are any ideas of what also might be good to add, feel free to suggest it!

I think you mean aluminum, here is a incert on the specs...

"1) Coollaboratory Liquid Pro was designed for use with high quality coolers made of copper or silver. Aluminum coolers are unsuitable for use with Liquid Pro.

DO NOT USE ALUMINUM COOLERS! Do not allow Liquid Pro to come in contact with any aluminum surfaces. Aluminum is not resistant against Liquid Pro and will result in damages to any aluminum surface."

But MX-2 is as good, hell I'm using it.

Which is the better of the recommended NB Water Block

Almost have all of my first WC material. Last item to buy is the NB WB. Which of the 3 recommended is the better one and by how much? Prefer to go with MCW30 cheaper and easy to get in canada!

Would go with DD or EK if they are much better!

You have seen the warning on the MCW30 possibly fitting a bit snug correct?

I would try to order the EK NB block from Petras if I had to do it over again.
This waiting on the mail stuff, can work your patience some...

I am not sure wich aftermarket block is best, we need more posts.

Creek Tha Gray seems to have a nice low max load NB temp, going on his EK block.

Would the Maze4 cool the NB better than the MCW30?

Well, according to Clunk's Maximus Living Review web page: http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/revie...ng-review.html

He posted this on page 1 after his DangerDen Maze4 install: "Ok, I was having trouble getting stable for more than 20 mins at a time last night, and it turns out that the RAM needs to be in the white slots for my particular setup - nothing new there, every Asus board that I've used recently has been like that, and also, Several of the voltages needed upping a bit. Again, this wasnt needed on the P5K Deluxe to achieve the same overclock.

So, just to be sure, I left prime running over night 400x9 1.45v (see what I mean about it needing more juice than the P5K?)

Here are the overnight priming results."

After letting Prime run over night, this is the data taken from his screen shot that he has posted.

Members reported loaded NB temp's in the 'Aftermarket Block Club':
ABC Member ----- NB volts -- NB Loaded ------------------- CPU --------------- NB Block
    Creek Tha Gray ---- 1.61v ------ 20°C -- occt at 30min -- Q6600 @ 3.9GHz --------- EK S-MAX
    Nikhsub1 ---------- 1.52v ------ 25°C ------------------- Q6600 @ 3.7GHz --------- MCW30
    Clunk -------------- 1.74v ------ 35°C - Prime over night - Q6600 @ 3.6GHz ------ DangerDen Maze4

I would guess the MCW30 would keep your NB a bit cooler that the DangerDen Maze4?
    Not 100% sure...

Clunk's data has been added to the chart.

The MCW30 is a tight fit. I just put it on my NB and it will tilt your mounting screws inwards abit. By abit I mean maybe 1mm total. I went ahead and still used it because I had ordered 2 for another MB in the past, and it works fine. Lowered my NB temps by 10*C as most here have said. I wouldn't expect any more cooling from other products. Oh yeah, and nice numbers there for the NB. I am very close to 1.7v for the CPU FSB and NB, @ 470x8. So far it has passed a 5min OCCT load for CPU. Core temps very close to 80*C. My ambient is abit high though at 33*C.

When you get things settled in, report your loaded NB temp and we will get you on the chart ElEctric_EyE!

I can't say for sure on white slot's, but it has come up enouigh times in the other INTEL OC'ing Maximus threads, that I have baught into it, and will be starting out that way myself apon initial fire up...

nowakjan2000, What TIM did you use, AS5? Your lapping looks good BTW.

I wan't some more of the boy's running the EK blocks to check in with their loaded NB temps.

We need to see if Creek Tha Gray's 20°C is freakishly low, or close to par for the corce with the EK NB blocks.

I think lapping helps for sure. There have been too many good reports confirming lower temps, and less of a temp difference between cores after...

We will just have to see how your D-TEK likes your CPU thinner, flatter, and now copper faced.

This was my first time lapping too, and we both had the go-nads to do it on a quad to hone our skills.

I think that says were the kind of guy's that like to live on the edge...

May your chip be a runner nowakjan2000!

Are you guys going to do one for all the mosfet and or chipset blocks you sell? ATM its a bit patchy. There's one for the first EK 680i mosfet block but not for the second etc.
Would like to be able to get a set for the 680i board and the Maximus board etc.
    Any thoughts?
