yes, but when you buy a Bugatti you will have the fastest car for a long, long time. when you buy skulltrail , you will have the fastest machine for about 12 months, for an absurd price.
skulltrail is nothing more than a proof of concept design. I wouldn't want to be the person who looks at his chassis in Q4 2008 and thinks "I cant believe I spent 3000 dollars on a pair of cpus that nobody would even dream of wanting right now, and omg, nehalem is faster, overclocks more, and uses less power". I think that feeling completely cancels out the "zomg I have the fastest machine ever" feeling when you just buy skulltrail. maybe thats just me, but I work hard for my money.
and please buddy, dont compare cars to computers. we're at the pinnacle of development with the mechanics in cars, when you buy a bugatti you will have the fastest car until you die perhaps. unless all of sudden they make it legal to strap a jet engine at the back of a car. technology is not like that, I dont need to tell you that. so if it makes people happy to own the best for such a very short time while spending a

load of cash, then so be it. Im not the one to tell you how to spend your money, but I do have the right to state my opinion on the product, and thats all I am doing.
PS. good guess on the age
