Why? Because the rig I built will suddenly stop performing?
This is why fanboism is self-defeating. It colors one's ability to reason.
If Something comes along from a different manufacturer that significantly
outperforms my current hardware on a price/performance basis, and does
so to such a great degree that it renders my current hardware incapable
of running the applications I need to run at a high level, I simply buy the
better offering.![]()
Intel has had my wallet for the past eighteen months. I've taken an objective
look at AMD's current roadmap for an integrated desktop solution,
and in taking a larger view of where the market is heading near-term,
have concluded it will indeed provide a high level of performance and
better flexibility. When that changes, I will adapt and change with it.
But focusing on largely irrelevant (and often highly suspect) "benchmark"
reviews, while stubbornly clinging to a myopic view based on one's current
love affair with their platform of choice, is an efficient way to separate a
fool from his wallet.
As far as I can tell, blind allegiance to a particular manufacturer serves only
to ease one's psychological pain when that nagging feeling of "did I make the
right choice?" begins to rear its ugly head. You aren't defending Intel. Why
would you? You're defending your own decision making. Change can be good.
My post stands.
