are the temps better for bios 901?
I'm running a little hot on 802 under OCCT, have to open a window or else it fails after 20 mins "CPU To HOT!"
or can I just raise the cpu limit in OCCT to 80 or something?
Thinking on adding another rad to the loop
1 220 rad is clearly not enough
Will edit OCCT tho ;-)

Well, I was also about to ask you to check your RAM sticks, but you already got it. I feel like your Ballistix are dieing...
This board sounds like it destroys memory. What destroys memory is overvoltage. So definetely, this board overvolts the RAM or it won't die that fast with many people. The spikes in OCCT could be true.
GAR, I remember, also noted some strange voltage behaviour with this mb
And 2.2v on your Ballistix, shouldn't kill them so fast

Renegade, I used your bios settings and my Q6600 and is now running 4.05ghz. CPU is running 52 degrees C. How do I post the attachemnt from CPU-Z? I backed off on the NB voltage as it was showing red in ProbeII. Thanks for the help.

I was thinking the same thing about your ballistix dieing, my previous set of ballistix pc8500 died after 3 months at 2.2v with 2x80mm aircooling over them. These d9 stix all die after 3-6 months at anything over 2.0v without aircooling and if you run them at 1100 or 1200 they will die after 2 months. Ive been through 4 sets in the last 6 months, they literally burn your finger to the touch. On a side note my last set killed my GA-p35-dq6 so i bought the Maximus Non SE and a set of ocz platinum xtc 2x 2gb 5-4-4-15 and so far so good.
This board detected my previous 4 disk raid 0 , and booted my q6600 at 3.6ghz the first shot with the 401 bios. The vdroop is horrible 1.54 bios = 1.44 loadand my q6600 needs 1.46 under load to stay stable. I hope the Loadline and vdroop will be fixed with the 901 bios.

Anytime! Glad your Quad is screaming. Is it OCCT stable? Don't worry about the red. That can be adjusted in the settings of PC ProbeII. As far as a CPUz screenie: Just take a screenshot and host it somewhere like cyberimpressions.net or photobucket.com or something. They give you a forum link you can paste into here.
Flash to 0802 for crying out loud. Loadline calibration was fixed in like 0502 or something like that. Stop running an ancient BIOS and you'll get better results.

i've upped almost every voltage and im positive its not a voltage issue
im OCCT stable with the slider in every direction lol
but at 3.6GHZ im perfectly prime stable for hours + OCCT but with 3.8, its a crap shoot
ironically it never crashes or freezes on me.. got any ideas? have you tried to up voltages?

I have been collecting some RAID posts related to getting it to work with the Maximus SE.

Type 3 has the shortest "big side" of 58mm and "short side" of 46mm. Types 1 & 2 each have "big sides" of 84mm. Type 2 has the longest "small side of 70mm while type 1 has a 61mm "small side", and type 3 has the smallest "small side" of 46mm.
I will look into what I used but I do remember the ones I used had clrearence issues with the slide on brakets around the rear mossfets so I made my own bracket from steel BBQ barb skewer with 3mm holes or through bolts from bottom. Thet fit so much snugger then ever. I had to do it first on my old ASUS A8N-SLI cause we had only the 1 ytpe to choose (the ones from my ASUS P5WDG2-WS) and had to even trim the copper base a notch to fit my bolts in.
Hope this helps, again, I will look if you dont find the right size by then. I thought I would try some out too. I just received (1) HR-09U L84 x W17 x H48mm, and (1) HR-09S L84 x W32.3 x H48mm from FrozenCPU. Does anybody know it these will have any mounting issues on the SE?
I will report back, on how they fit on the mobo.

I've looked through this thread, but am still a bit confused about a few things.
First, I just got rid of my eVGA 680i (I went through 3 of them, the 3rd fried RAM AGAIN – and the RAM wasn’t even OC’d!) and got a Maximus Formula SE. I have a 3060 CPU and a liquid cooled system (4GB PC8500, 8800GTX and 7950GTX (3 monitors) 800w PSU, etc.
I specifically got the 3060 to overclock and ran it without any issues (other than the 680i being junk) @ 3.6GHz.
The problem is I’m not an OC expert by any means – I can figure the basic stuff out, but not the more detailed/complex stuff. I understand all of the basic FSB/voltage details, but where I get lost are the support details/voltages (i.e. upping the FSB to 1600 and then adjusting the voltages of the bridges to support the change).
I was hoping to get some pointers here as to good safe voltages for the subsystems.
My goal is to run the 3060 @ 3.6GHz again, meaning a 1600 FSB. 1.5v on the CPU has worked fine for this, but I do not know what voltages need to be adjusted for the support systems.
Any recommendations?
moogymonster, check the manual for the voltage ranges. my first attempt, i put them all to the highest "green" level i could (except for dram) and then kept overclocking till it was unstable. then i tweaked them from there. the thing is, you really just have to play around and read, read, read!!
OK I did a bit of research, but am having some issues. Here's what I've got.
With my 680i, my settings were:
FSB 1600
CPU 1.5v
RAM 2.2v
FSB 1.5v
SPP 1.45v
SPP<->MCP 1.4
Those settings with the eVGA 680i were perfect. 3.6GHz, no blue screens.
Now, with the Maximus Formula SE, I blue screen right upon entry into Vista x64 (past the menu select). It seems to be when the video is supposed to initialize.
My Maximus settings are:
Ratio 9, Freq 400 (CPU is Intel 3060)
CPU 1.5v
CPU PLL 1.6v
NB 1.49v
DRAM 2.2v
FSB Term 1.4v
SB 1.15v
SB 1.5 - 1.6v
Note ALL others (except Spread Spectrum for CPU and PCIe which are off) are set to AUTO.
Now, a few questions. What is SB 1.5? Also, which voltage looks like it may be off?
Can anyone explain what SPP/MCP was on the 680i, and what the "similiar" settings (if any) are on the Maximus.
Note my RAM settings are just fine since I'm running clear with them.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
