yorkfield can easily hit 4Ghz on air according to the several reviews I've seen. I somehow doubt phenom can reach that far. isn't it built on 90nm fabrication?

same clock speeds, the benchmarks might be close. but this is XS we are talking about. most people wouldn't be running at stock

We should cross our fingers for yes (but somehow I feel like if that were the case, AMD would have been showing off a LOT more benchmarks that what we have seen).

but somehow I have a feeling that phenom would lose when we are talking about performance/overclockability at a certain price point. like $250 phenom vs a $250 yorkfield

That product spec might well be wrong if launch speeds are 2.0-2.4GHz

is the MHz scaling:

2.0, 2.2, 2.4 or

2.2, 2.3, 2.4? (this would also explain the small differences between prices)

It's the latter. K10 is capable of running .5 multis.

I think, after looking to these prices, that Phenom will be slower than Penryn

The question is how much, and how will it be the ratio price/perfomance of a system based on a Phenom+RD790+GPU

and one based on a Penryn+X38/48+GPU.

Probably because at 2.2, it is below 95W, at 2.3 it's around 95W but still below and at 2.4 it's just over 95W (=100W with basic mosfet power law)
Keep in mind that tdp is only an indication of the good thermal solution

These may be slower than Penryn, but according to Perkam the B2 stepping coming out in Feb will be "much MUCH faster". SO maybe those will be able to compete with Penryn

But why stop at BA or B1. The 2.5 GHz samples featured on AnandTech's second article are of the newest roadmapped spin; revision B2. When Shimpi made the inference that the 2.5 GHz Opterons would be the closest thing to Phenom, he was hardly exaggerating. AMD's current roadmaps peg the the B2 stepping launch for Opteron and Phenom as mid-Q4 2007.
