it actually now has less to do with headroom than anything. for example, how will you manage the split plane power delivery since the sources are not synchronous anymore?

guaranteed that not a lot of big OEMs are going to spend the time oc'ing a chip on water, air, nitro, etc. to see "headroom." they're going to want X processor to run at the rated speed, 24x7x365 without error. overclocking, while somewhat useful in that regard, is a needless waste of time.
