That is an old Bios, what CPU are you using? If the Celeron is a socket 775 it will do the job. Maybe not if if it is a celron-D.

I would not call it a defective boad because it has and older bios. You can buy a basic cel at newegg for aroubd $25.00. Good to have back if overclocking. See if that bios supports that chip on the ASUS Support Pages.
